Second (2014) ERA-MIN Joint Call
Sustainable Supply of Raw Materials in Europe:
• Larger participation 12 countries � increased budget (approx. 7.7 Meuros)
• Scope: needs-driven research, addressing one or several technological area (topics/sub-topics):
• Primary resources
• Secondary resources/recycling
• Substitution of critical materials
•Environmental and social aspects, public policy support and mineral intelligence and education and
international cooperation can also be addressed in conjunction with a technological area
•Includes mineral and metal-based construction materials.
•Basic and applied research projects can be funded (national rules apply)
•The project coordinator has to ensure that all consortium partners are eligible for funding and
provide the necessary information as requested by the national regulations, to ensure the eligibility of
the proposal

22 pages excluding annexes: All fields completed and all required

3 Three partners from at least two Call Funding countries �
4 At least one of the partners in the consortium must come from
one of the countries participating in the Call: Finland; France;

Recommendations for project consortia

1 Consortia addressing in an integrated manner technological topics in
conjunction with environmental and social aspects, as well as public policy
support and mineral intelligence, are particularly encouraged.
�
2 Consortia involving both academic and industrial organizations are
particularly encouraged to apply.
�
3 No maximum number of applicants; The consortia size suited for the level
and complexity of the project and each partner should have a significant
contribution for the transnational added value of collaboration (include
researcher mobility, joint graduation,etc).
�
4 No budget limit for project proposal; Balanced consortia; the contribution
of one country to the collaborative project should not exceed 70% of the
total project costs and partner’s budget must be reasonable and within
national funding limits (if any).
�
5 Cooperation with organisations based in ERA-MIN countries not
participating in the Call is particularly encouraged, as well as with other
European and countries outside Europe.
�
6 Consortia with more than two Call funding countries are encouraged. �

1 Cada instituição portuguesa tem de anexar uma declaração de
compromisso, devidamente assinada e carimbada pelo
responsável da Instituição Proponente e pelo Investigador

5 O financiamento da participação portuguesa numa proposta
transnacional está limitado a:
Para projetos de duração 24-36 meses:
•200.000 Euros para um projeto com coordenação portuguesa;
•125.000 Euros para um projeto com participação portuguesa.
Para projetos de duração 12-18 meses - 50.000 Euros.
�
6 Os projetos selecionados com participação portuguesa só podem
ter início a partir de Maio 2015. Cada instituição proponente tem
de fazer uma submissão formal da parte portuguesa do projeto no
portal da FCT.
�
O compromisso financeiro da FCT para apoiar todos os tópicos é
de 500.000 Euros. Espera-se financiar 3-4 projetos transnacionais
com participação portuguesa

• Centralized peer review evaluation process: three independent reviewers for
proposal (one appointed as rapporteur) selected by expertise and proposal
