WHAT IS E-MAIL ?

Electronic mail, often abbreviated as email,email, oreMail, is any method of creating, transmitting, orstoring primarily text-based humancommunications with digital communicationssystems. Unlike conventional mail, email is muchfaster (conventional mail is sometimes called "snailmail" by email users)

HOW E-MAIL WORKS ?To help us in understanding how email

works, Gmail will use illustrations.

When you send an email, whatever its content, you must have an email address in name@domain.com. For example, Gmail has admin@gmail.com email. Email will send by the client to the mail server via the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. The SMTP server can be likened to a post office box, which examine stamps, address and will help you to send it.

An email message is made up of several parts. They include:

HEADERIt contains information about the sender, the routingand the time of the message. The header alwayscontains a subject line. This is a very important part ofthe message and you should always include a subjectline. Some folks sort their messages by subject, so it isrude to not include a subject! The subject line indicates

the purpose or content of the Message. MASSAGE BODY

where you write your message. SIGNATURE

which identifies the sender.This part is optional and must be setup inside of your email software.

The message header usually includes at least the followingfields: From : The e-mail address of the sender To : The e-mail address of recipient Subject : Topic of message Date : The local time and date when the message was

written Cc : carbon copy, adopted from business communication

protocol when typewriters ruled the day Bcc: Blind Carbon Copy

when recipient does not need to know whoelse got a copy of the message. May ormay not appear in sender's file copydepending on e-mail software used.
