DESCRIPTION

EKU’s dual credit program is open to high school and home school juniors and seniors, residing in Kentucky, who meet the eligibility requirements, and whose school is partnering with EKU in this endeavor. This program provides the opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to enroll in EKU courses for dual credit - receiving college credit from EKU and high school credit from their high school.

EKU Dual Credit Tuition Fall 2014/Spring 2015

(2015/2016 Tuition TBA)Tuition: $65 per credit hour.1.Studentsareresponsibleforthe

costoftextbooks,parkingpermits,associatedcoursefeesandlateregistrationfeesifapplicable.

2.Studentsmaytakeamaximumof8coursestotalbetweentheirjuniorandsenioryearsinhighschool(includingEKUNow!andWhitlockScholarCandidates).

3.Studentsenrollinginmorethantwocoursesinthefallorspringsemesters,ormorethanonecourseduringtheSummer2term,willbechargedfullundergraduatetuitionfortheadditionalcoursework.Amaximumof8coursesintotalmaybetakenatthedualcredittuitionrate.

Dual Credit Scholarships Academically strong high school students may qualify for free dual credit tuition. All Dual Credit applications will be reviewed for scholarship qualification.

Whitlock Scholar Candidate – EKUDualCreditstudentswitha3.5unweightedhighschoolGPAandminimumACTscoresof18 inEnglish,19 inMath,20 inReadinganda23Compositeareeligibletoreceivefreedualcredit tuitionforthetwoallottedcoursespersemester.

● YoumusthaveahighschoolGPAof3.0andACT/PLANscoresonfilewithEKUatthetimeyouapplyfortheprogram.

● YoumusthaveminimumACT/PLANscoresof18inEnglish,20inReadingandaCompositeACT/PLANscoreof20atthetimeofapplicationtotheprogram*.

● Yourhighschoolorhomeschoolmustbeaparticipatingpartner.(Checkwithyourguidancecounselor.)

*KYOTE or COMPASS test scores may be substituted if ACT/PLAN sub-scores do not meet minimum requirements. SAT conversion scores will be determined by EKU.

Thecompleteddocumentsshouldbesubmittedtoyourhighschoolguidancecounselor.YourcounselorwillsubmitallofthedualcreditapplicationsanddocumentationasapackettotheEKUDualCreditoffice,ortothenearestEKUregionalcampus,nolaterthanthesubmissiondeadlinestatedontheEKUDualCreditapplication.StudentsenrolledinEKUDualCreditforthefall,neednotreapplyforspring.Onlyoneapplicationisrequiredperacademicyear.Dual Credit students will attend special advising sessions and register for courses during a specified period prior to the beginning of each academic semester. Advising and registration sessions will be available on each of EKU’s participating campuses.

Available CoursesEKUDualCreditstudentsmayregisterforcreditclassesthatfulfillgeneraleducationrequirements.AlistoftheseclassesislocatedontheEKUDualCreditwebsite.Studentsmayalsoregisterforapprovedmajorintroductorycourses.Classavailabilitywillvaryaccordingtosemesterandlocation.DualCreditstudentsmustmeetbothDualCreditcriteriaandstandardcourseprerequisitesincludinganyadditionalACTrequirements.
