EGG OSMOSIS EXPERIMENT Tinille Medina 8-73

PURPOSE - To observe osmosis in a

cell.

STEPS: 1. Place egg in vinegar

2. Measure weight of egg

3. Measure size of egg

PURPOSE (CONT.)

4. Place one egg in water, other in corn syrup

5. Weight and measure eggs

HYPOTHESIS Water egg:

Weight the same

Size smaller/tinier

Looks fatter

HYPOTHESIS (CONT.) Corn Syrup egg:

Weight heavier

Size wide/large

Looks different

MATERIALS Eggs Beakers Balance String Measuring tape Vinegar Corn Syrup Water

OBSERVATIONBEFORE AFTER

Corn Syrup

Weight: 71.5Size : 16 cm

Weight: 50.6Size: 14.5

Water Weight: 71.4Size: 16 cm

Weight: 87.5 gSize: 18.5 cm

• Vinegar: bouncy squishy a large amount of foam at top.

OBSERVATION Egg in Corn Syrup:

dented deflated

Egg in Water(24 hrs.): fatter larger

CONCLUSION Egg in Water:

got fatter, larger water, in egg H.C (water) to L.C (egg)

CONCLUSION Corn Syrup Egg:

got smaller water, out the egg H.C (egg) to L.C (corn

syrup)

CONCLUSION My hypothesis is incorrect because;

Water Egg: Weighed more (wrong) Size, got bigger (wrong) Look, fatter (right)

Corn Syrup Egg: Weighed, less (wrong) Look, became soggy (wrong) Size, smaller (wrong)
