Saving the planet

At one time, our planet was surrounded with beauty…

The Earth needs us to take care of it because it’s our home, but instead, we have slowly managed to

corrupt it.

These are some of the issues that are affecting our world…

Deforestation

When all the trees in an area are cut down or destroyed

Pollution

Damage caused to air, water and land by harmful chemicals and waste

Air pollution causes acid rain

This rain contains chemicals from factory smoke and cars

Contamination has also produced…

• Greenhouse effect– It’s the warming of the air around the

earth as a result of the sun’s heat being trapped by gases.

• Global warming: – It’s an increase in the world’s

temperatures caused by an increase in carbon dioxide.

All these actions are also harming the animals in our

planet…

Some of our actions can’t be taken back, but we are still in time to help our planet, these are some ideas…

Learn and practice the three R’s

Reduce

To make something smaller or use less, resulting in a smaller amount of waste.

For example: •Buy and use less•Start making wise “package” selections

Recycle

To take materials from items that aren’t used anymore to make them into brand new products. For example: Throw your waste into recycling banks, separating the different materials.

Reuse

Instead of throwing things away, try to find ways to use them again!

For example: •Use all writing paper on both sides.•Use silverware and dishes instead of disposable plastic utensils and plates.
