1995

• This site allows users :

– Get information on the EU and what it does , its institutions, policies, the latest events and news

– Perform certain transactions : apply for job, order and buy documents

– Give feedback on EU policies , activities and services

• Europa is not a single site , it is an amalgamation of some 150 different sites , each managed independently by the different EU institutions , agencies and bodies plus the individual department (Directorates –General of the Commisssion)

• How to up-to-date is Europa? Information is revised whenever necessary . Many pages are updated daily (press releases)

It produces harmonized and comparable data across the EU, the EU Member States, the euro area countries, candidate countries, countries of the European Free Trade Association What does Eurostat? - Collect data from National Statistical Institutes - Harmonize data - Produces European aggregates (EU28 / Eurozone) - disseminates statistics - From October 1, 2004 provides direct free access to its databases and electronic publications (PDF) on the Internet.

• Eurostat shares responsibility with the European Central Bank in term of monetary and financial statatistics
