The Random Snare

Hi there!
Welcome to my dinky .pdf file snare drum book
This is the first of a series of online .pdf file books I intend to make available on my website.
Print it out, put it on your music stand and fire away!
I call this series “The random snare” because of the way the main snare melody appeared on my
computer screen .... random taps on a mouse.
“... maybe one here .... now ... one there ... etc ..”the personal challenge to myself to make a
cohesive “melody”.
These random taps were then “panel-beated” into shape with various fliddles, fluzzes and flams; a
sense of form became apparent and then sixteenths, triplets overlayed with variations of form, the main snare “melody notes” remaining
consistent throughout the first six parts; the sixth part itself being rhythmic counterpoint with the
bass drum.
