basic layout
I have chosen to have my image on the left hand side for my DPS as this is a generic convention of many music magazines. I also liked the idea of having the page numbers
vertically and in the centre. Dazed magazine also do this, and I appreciated the subtlety as it strays from the conventions of most magazines.
experimenting with typeset
I felt that the bubble 04b font doesn't work on this image as it’s not clear to a
reader. The colours used
need to be bolder, making
it easier for the audience
to read.
The colours used on this
image are much clearer,
however I don't like the use of
two colours for both words.
The image is busy as it is as
it has lots of colours within
it. I think the colours should be simple and
clear.
experimenting with typeset
The bold red colour is
much clearer to read,
however i think its too bright and
isn't in keeping with
the metal genre of this
particular artist.
I like the use of the black 04b font with a red stroke.
It’s more befitting of the metal genre as
it’s darker and more sinister looking.
adding text and edited image
I decided to use this image as my
model was smirking. I edited
this image to reflect the “see no virtue” message. also making my
model monochrome
makes him stand out against the
colourful background
which I thought would be eye
catching to the audience.
I added a drop cap in the
same 04b font as the “see no
virtue” title. This was to
strengthen the house style
and show that the article
belongs together. I
also added my interview text
and decided to go with
insinuated questions,
instead of a Q&A layout
which was the easy option.
complete DPS
I have edited my DPS text so that it’s more free flowing and easy to read. My DPS is now complete.
