• Formal addresses by the Mayor of Dorset, Australia Day Ambassador and State Politician

• Presentations awarded for Young Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year and Community Event of the Year

• Nominees receive Certificates of Appreciation and School Awards are presented to students from each of our 5 schools

• 2013: Deborah De Williams – founder of Running Pink and Tasmanian Australian of the Year 2011

• Family oriented event running in various formats by local community groups since 2000 and handed to Council in 2004.

• Held on Croquet Lawn Beach, Bridport the event attracts up to 2500 attendees including locals, holiday makers and day trippers

• Australia Day Ambassadors are encouraged to take part in activities such as mud wrestling, sand sculpting, air guitar, sack race, tug o war and … the jelly drop!

Criteria

Entrants will be judged against each of the criteria listed. Timeframes for length of service / contribution / activity must be demonstrated for all categories.

Citizen of the YearOutstanding contribution or achievement by an individual aged between 26 – 65 years on 26 January 20XX. The winner will be an inspirational role model and display continued excellence in their field and in the community. Assessment Criteria - Demonstrated achievement in one or more of the following: • personal, academic or professional achievements • contribution in the relevant field • demonstrated leadership, innovation and creativity • personal interests and community involvement • contribution to the development of the Sunshine Coast community and/or economy • contributions being completed on a voluntary basis or exceeding the normal requirements of the

nominee’s paid work
