• scope of real physical damage

• frequency of use by the research community

Finding aids Total amount – 4000 units • cca 2800 finding aids were made by typewriters • cca 200 finding aids were made by rotary printing • cca 650 finding aids were made in Microsoft Office

Access to archives documents

Archives shall only submit an original of archives for their study in exceptional cases,

whilst it shall always submit a copy of archives,

if:• it concerns archives created before 1526;• it contains informations with restricted

access;• any damage or possibility of damage

could occur upon their study.

Medieval charters at the Slovak National Archives

• are administered by department of Early Fonds and Collections

• by provenience are included in:1. the archival collections of ecclesiastical institutions (private historical archives of the Premonstratesian monasteries in Jasov and Leles, the Private Archives of the Bratislava Chapter, six fonds of credible locations)

2. the group of 98 archives of noble families and their feudal manors (arhives of the magnate noble families Pálfi, Erdödi, Esterházi, Habsburg ...)
