Chemical Industries in Bangladesh•As Bangladesh is a developing country and was independent in

1971 so, there are a few chemical industries in Bangladesh.•Most of the industries were developed in Pakistan period and

after independence these industries were owned by the Government of Bangladesh.

•Beside these industries, several types of chemical industries were developed in Bangladesh under the Government sector, Public sector and private sector.

Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC)•BCIC is fully owned by the Government.•It was established in July, 1976 by a presidential Order.•The Corporation is now managing 13 large and medium size

industries.•The industries is producing a wide range of products like Urea,

TSP, DAP, Paper, Cement, Glass sheet, Hardboard, Sanitary ware & Insulator etc.

CHITTAGONG UREA FERTILIZER LTD•Located at Rangadia, Thana-Anwara, District-Chattagong•Established in 1987•Produce 5,61,000 metric tonnes per year

Ashugonj Fertilizer & Chemical Company Ltd

•Located at Ashugonj in the District of Brahmanbaria•Established in 1981

Urea Fertilizer Factory Ltd•Located at Polash thana, District-Narsingdi•Established in 1970•Produce 4,70,000 metric tonnes per year

Natural Gas Fertilizer Factory Ltd•First urea fertilizer production industry•Situated at Fenchuganj thana, District Sylhet•Established in 1961•Produce 1,06,000 metric tonnes per year

TSP Complex Ltd•Situated at North Patenga, Chittagong•Established in 1968 but production started in 1974•Produce 1,00,000 metric tonnes per year

DAP Fertilizer Company Ltd•Located at Anowara, Chittagong•Established in 2006 with the slogans “dui gune ak sar,DAP nam tar”

•Production capability 5,28,000 metric tonnes/year

Chhatak Cement Company Ltd•Chhatak Upazila under the district of sunamgonj•Established in 1937 as the name of Assam Bengal Cement Company•It comed under BCIC in 1982

Usmania Glass Sheet Factory Ltd•Sitiated at CHANDGAON, CHITTAGONG•Established in 1959 as a private limited company•After independence, Bangladesh government placed the

company under the control and management of BCIC

Khulna Hard Board Mills LTD•Located at Khalispur, Khulna•Established in 1965 by EPIDC•Raw materials Sundari wood from sundarban.

Karnaphuli Paper Mills Ltd.•Situated at Chandraghona, Kaptai, Rangamati.•Established in 1953 by EPIDC•Main raw materials: Bamboo, Soft Wood and Pulp•Production 30,000 metric tonnes paper/year
