So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put

And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden,

and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Genesis 2:9

And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden

to dress it and to keep it. Genesis 2:15

God gave Adam and Eve the task of caring for the fruit trees and cultivating

and training the vegetation.

God gave work as a blessing to occupy and develop our minds, strengthen

our bodies, and develop our characters.

God made men and women to be active and useful. Nothing can increase the strength of the young like proper exercise of all the muscles in useful labor.

God gave us 8 laws of health to keep us healthy and happy.

Pure air, sunlight, abstemiousness, rest, exercise, proper diet, the use of water, trust in divine power--these are the true remedies.

1 – Get Plenty of FRESH AIR

Fresh air will purify the blood, refresh the body, and help to make it strong and healthy. It also gives clearness to the

mind, improves digestion and encourages sound sleep.

During the day, spend time outdoors. At night, sleep with a bedroom window cracked.

2 – Get Plenty of SUNLIGHTSunlight is one of the blessings which Heaven has

provided to make the sick well and to keep in health those who are not sick.

But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his beams; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

3 – Practice TEMPERANCETemperance is self-control that teaches us to do without everything that is hurtful and to wisely use that which is

healthful. We are to practice temperance in eating, drinking, sleeping, working, and dressing.

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it:

4 – Get Plenty of RESTSince the work of building up the body takes place during the hours of rest, it is essential, especially in youth, that

sleep should be regular and abundant. Education, 205

And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.

5 – Get Plenty of Daily EXERCISEDaily exercise in the open air imparts strength to the muscles, liver, kidneys, and lungs and enables

them to perform their work.

6 – Choose a PROPER DIET

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all

the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Genesis 1:29

Our bodies are built up from the foods we eat, so we should eat regularly of the most

healthful foods.

7 – Drink Plenty of WATERWater is the beverage which God provided to quench the

thirst of animals and man. Drunk freely, it helps to supply the

necessities of the system and assists nature to resist disease.

8 - TRUST IN GODGod wants us to put our trust in Him instead of worrying. We should search the Bible for

encouraging promises, claim these promises as we pray, and believe that God will answer our prayers

and work things out for our good.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. Proverbs 3:5

OBEDIENCE to God’s 8 laws of health

leads to health and happiness.

of health leads to sickness and sadness.
