Problem:

For the last 50 years, transportation was designed for motor vehicles.

During the 1990s, the federal government put $156 billion into highways, but only $45 billion on transit, bicycling, and walking facilities combined.

49% of all non-commercial trips are under three miles in length. The resulting environment discourages bicycling and walking.

47% of drivers said transit could not take them where they needed to go.
