Connection “for to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government
will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful
Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
(Isaiah 9:6)
Last Sunday night we took time to give thanks for some of the
ways God has been at work this year - New people He has
brought into the church family, people giving their lives to Christ,
baptisms, spiritual growth, community connections including new
ministries, financial gifts, spiritual growth in children, blessing of
our pastors and church leadership team, growth in home groups
and congregational care team.
Praise God for the leadership and blessing of our children and
Sunday School leaders as they led last Sunday.
Praise God for the opportunities we have had to share about the
coming of our Saviour at our various ministries Christmas
breakups - may seeds planted continue to grow as we love and
care.
Praise God for the opportunity at the Markets to come alongside
of people, to show love and servant hearts and provide a space
of blessing. Thank you Beryl, Desley and the team.
This morning Ps John will be sharing the message and Ps
Stephen is leading the service. May we have ears to hear and
hearts to respond.
Sunday Morning Prayer is at 8:15am in the Thrift Shop. Come
and join in.
Family Carols tonight - Pray that all who come will be touched by
God’s Word and Spirit as we focus on Christ.
Pray for our search team - Pastor Stephen, Michael F, Rebecca Y
and Billy V as they begin the search process of our Associate
Pastor - Families, Children & Youth.
Pray for those recovering from illness, operations and procedure.
May they know God’s healing, strength and comfort.
Pray for Glenda H - she and her YWAM team are working in a
hospital in Uganda. In her recent newsletters, she has shared of
the experience they have had of the loss of a baby at birth and
the mother. Pray for them that they know God’s peace and
strength. Glenda will return to Perth on 15th Dec.

The Pastor’s Pen
Advent Series -
Joy in anticipation
God has left messages for
his people throughout history through the prophets of the coming
Messiah. Now, the time is approaching and just as God foretold,
now one was coming who would directly prepare the way for the
Immanuel. The heavenly realm is full of activity as God’s rescue
plan commences, the immanent coming of the Christ child. An
angel is dispatched to speak to Zechariah, a priest on duty in the
temple, to share the news that he and Elizabeth his wife would
have a son, John. John would go before the Lord preparing the
way and bringing people back to the Lord.
Elizabeth is six months pregnant with John when the angel visits
Mary and announces she will be with child, the Son of the Most
High. Mary then travels to stay with Zachariah and Elizabeth, her
relative. When Mary arrives, Elizabeth is overjoyed because
God’s Spirit fills her and her baby leaps in the womb. She
proclaims to Mary, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed
is the child you will bear!......blessed is she who has believed that
what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!”
Elizabeth had great faith in what God promised would come to
pass.
As we reflect on the celebration of Christmas, I pray our faith is
raised to his saving work in our life and that nothing is impossible
to God. Anticipate the wonders God will do now and the truth that
Jesus will ultimately return—to bring his people to a new heaven
and earth prepared for us. May this fill us with joy. Christ is with
us and soon, we will see him face to face.
God bless. Pastor Stephen
