Clyde Primary School, established in 1910, is situated in a pleasant rural setting five kilometres
from Cranbourne in the City of Casey. The physical environment of the school has much to offer with mature trees and a large grassed playing space giving the school a country feel.

The Teaching and Learning Program
Teachers at Clyde Primary School are committed to providing skilled and innovative teaching based on current educational research and ongoing professional learning. This includes recognising and addressing the learning needs of individual students, and fostering a love of learning that will empower our children to thrive in a globally connected, changing world.
English The teaching of English is given priority at our school. Students at Clyde develop their English and
communication skills through the explicit teaching of carefully planned Speaking and Listening,
Reading and Writing activities. In addition to the traditional literacy skills, Clyde places a strong emphasis on students acquiring sophisticated skills in computer and visual literacies and critical
thinking.
Science & Technology Science has a high profile at Clyde Primary School. Students explore the fields of Biological,
Technological and Physical Science. The students learn to observe, investigate,
analyse, reason, question and seek solutions. An Inquiry Based Learning approach helps students to be aware of their own thinking and learning.
Specialist Teacher Programs

Visual Arts Students develop skills in drawing, painting, sculpting, construction and
art appreciation. Student works are planned and carefully prepared for
display to showcase the creativity and innovation of their designs.
Sport and Physical Education Physical Education develops skills in movement and co-ordination and promotes healthy behaviours and lifestyles. Other physical activities and
games sessions are taken by classroom teachers. In the senior years
students are also involved in at least one hour of sport per week.
Humanities In Humanities student learning is enhanced by the inclusion of a global perspective. The
Humanities include the studies of societies and their environments, it looks at people and their
cultures in the past and present. This subject provides students with key understandings to make meaning of the world around them.
The Teaching and Learning Program
Library In our Library students learn to appreciate literature and develop
research skills in a well supported environment.
Mathematics Numeracy skills are also given strong emphasis, covering the key areas of Number, Shape and
Space, Measurement, Chance and Data. There is also a focus on the development of strategies for
thinking and working mathematically.
Students participate weekly in a range of specialist classes including:
Information Communications Technology (ICT) Students develop computer skills to enable them to fully utilise the
computers in their classrooms. Over time students become familiar with
programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Web Design. Digital cameras and scanners are also available for the development of Photo
Stories and other projects. We have a class set of iPads available for
students to use. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards for students and teacher use.
Indonesian Students learn about the Indonesian culture and how to communicate in a
language other than English.
Additional Educational Programs Provided Students are able access Mathletics and Reading Eggs, computer based
programs both at school and at home.
