What is a Landing Page?

In terms of marketing it’s a stand alone web page different than your primary website that has a specific goal or objective for implementation.

There are two main types of landing pages:

• Click Through • Lead Generation

Used mostly in ecommerce and encourages people to click through the page to reach final objective (as the name implies). Typically done by:

> Offer discount code or incentive on landing page to “attract” the user and get them interested

> Click through directs user to shopping cart or registration page to make final purchase - SUCCESS > Avoid taking users directly to a shopping cart it makes for bad usability and leads to lower conversions

The sole purpose for this set up is to collect information so that you can market to the user later. The landing page content is typically the offer or reward for what you will get in return for sharing your information.
