Creates close, physical bond with mother

Causes fewer digestive problems for baby

Mother’s uterus shrinks back to normal size faster.

Best source of nutrition.

DISADVANTAGES OF BREASTFEEDING

Some women cannot pump their milk.

Father is unable to participate in feeding.

Mother’s breasts may become engorged and/or leak.

Some mothers find nursing painful.

May be difficult due to work schedule.

Baby feeds more often.

Need privacy.
