Slow and Steady Wins the Race

GP stays the course when it comes to using social media for college recruiting.

What are college kids talking about?

• JOBS, JOBS and JOBS • GP is HIRING! • How can we use Facebook & Twitter to get college kids interested in working for us?

BUT, BUT, BUT

• Recruiting group not using the tools • Tools not set up to deal with recruiting • Not enough people to manage it • So, can we do this through the

“corporate” tools?

Our Game Plan

• Started with the college recruiting calendar

• Research, research, research• ENGAGE and see what happens• Drive people to GP and our booth

What Worked

• We established relationships with colleges across the country that we’re active in social media

What Worked

• Geotargeting

What Worked

• We got our HR group and leaders to see the value of using social media

Curveball

• In the middle of recruiting season, we laid off 1,100 people

Improvements for Next Time

• Underestimated how long the research took

• Need to work on our timing • Need to improve feedback from HR

back to us• Contests did not work (not sure why)

When We Do This Again…

• Replicate what worked (expand to more schools and states)

• Get more organized when it comes to timing…see if that has impact

• Refine internal process with HR• Focus on Twitter more

If you remember only one thing…

Small, steady steps can lead to a lot of learning and, if you are patient, it pays off!
