“The leadership of teaching and learning has been at the centre of the drive for improvement.”

Project Strands: • Leadership • Staff Training • Partnerships • Infrastructure Development • Procurement • Communication

Research is constant... Questions constantly arise...

How we started...

Leadership

• Identify leaders and distribute leadership

• Model resource implications of all key decisions

• Create a transparent plan

Staff Training Give devices to staff early

• Inspire sessions • Breakfast sessions • Peer to peer training • Skills audit • Visits to other schools • Collection of all queries • Digital leaders • App research

Our strategies …

Partnerships

• Use expert advice • Build a specific network for

the project • Visit similar projects • Invite critical challenge to

your thinking

Infrastructure Development Will our wireless network support 1800 devices? Which alternative system would best suit our needs? When and how do we procure it?

Procurement

Which devices? What can each device currently do to enhance teaching and learning?

• iPads are reliable • App Store is quality controlled • Bring Your Own Device - 4:1 • Apple TV • Training Support • Volume app purchasing • Mobile Device Management • iTunes U

We chose an Apple ecosystem...

We designed an approach to market which included an evaluation of the benefits the bidders could provide in relation to...

• Value for money • Flexibility of the commercial offer • Support for project management • Support for training • Innovation

Evaluation of the submissions was fully supported by experts.

Procurement

A secure network environment Lightspeed Mobile Device Management Through Lightspeed we operate secure, filtered, wireless internet access. It also allows us to manage the devices, automatically link the iPads to the wireless network and update software apps.

Time in Lessons to Explore & Research Ideas

“By having the iPads in class and at home it means I can easily ask a friend in class when I get stuck.”

“It’s easier to share my ideas online as I can see what other people are saying and then improve on what they have said”

“iTunes U really helped the class be more independent. When we were

making the film, we really had to think about how to make it better. I think that

made it more fun.” Year 7 Student
