Punjabi is spoken as a native language by over 2.85% of Indians

Official language of the Indian state of Punjab

Spoken internationally by about 125 million people and is the twelfth

Punjab : Land of five rivers

Punjab derives its name from two Persian words,

panj (five) and aab (water), having

reference to the five rivers which

confer on the country i.e

- PUNJ (5/five) + AAB (river)

These rivers run between Indus and Jamna,

and their names, in succession, eastward

from the Indus, are Jhelum, Chenab,

Ravi, Bias and Sutlej
