God’s spirit, given by Christ, flows through us as living water God’s spirit, given by Christ, flows through us as living water God’s spirit, given by Christ, flows through us as living water to wash, heal, and satisfy. to wash, heal, and satisfy. to wash, heal, and satisfy.
As a congregation we become a fountain, sharing this living water with others. As a congregation we become a fountain, sharing this living water with others. As a congregation we become a fountain, sharing this living water with others.

Prelude Chiming of the Hour Welcome
Introit This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Sing with all the people of God, and join in the hymn of all creation. This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Blessing, honor, glory, and might be to God and the Lamb forever. This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! (hymn 513)
*Call to Worship We need your presence on the long road, Lord. The road between fear and hope, the road between the place where all is lost and the place of resurrection. Like the disciples walking the road to Emmaus, we are in need of your company! Jesus, stand among us, in your risen power, let this time of worship be a hallowed hour.
*Hymn 509 All Who Hunger, Gather Gladly
*Call to Confession
*Prayer of Confession
We have not loved one another as Christ love us. We have not forgiven one an-other as we have been forgiven. We have not given ourselves, in love and ser-vice, for the world as Christ gave Himself for us. Father, forgive us. Send the Holy Spirit to us, that He may give us power to live as by Your mercy, You have called us to live. (time for silent confession)
And let God’s people say: Amen.
*Assurance of Pardon
*The Peace of Christ
Since God has forgiven us in Christ, let us forgive one another. The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. And also with you. Let us share the peace of Christ with one another.

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, and in Jesus Christ, His Son, our Lord, and in the Holy Spirit. We seek to know God's will, to walk in God's ways, and to proclaim the Gospel to all people, by our lives as well as by our words. We work and pray for the progress of knowledge, the promotion of justice, the reign of peace, and the realization of human unity in our time. And we look with faith for the triumph of righteousness in our community and in our world. Amen.

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving The Lord be with you. And also with you. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord. It is right to give our thanks and praise.
We give thanks to you, creating God, breath of all being; the earth is yours and all that is in it….to join the song of all creation and forever sing your praise:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory, hosanna in the highest. Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. We give you thanks, O God, that you sowed your Word in Jesus, to grow your kingdom here on earth and draw us near….we worship you, Creating God, in songs of endless praise, now and forever. Amen. Our Father, which art in heaven…. (hymnal pg. 35)

TODAY’S WORSHIP NOTES
For the past four weeks, we have enjoyed Sharon's
sermon series on Barbara Brown Taylor's Learn-
ing to Walk in the Dark. Today we return to our
use of the Revised Common Lectionary (RCL) for
our scripture readings. The practice of having spe-
cific texts for a specific day began as early as the
fourth century and continues in many denomina-
tions. Over the years there have been different
versions of lectionaries; most today use the RCL.
Each Sunday, there are readings from the Old Tes-
tament, Psalms, New Testament, and Gospel, in a
continuous three-year cycle. We are in Year A,
which focuses on the Gospel of Matthew.
We welcome Rev. Marvin Randolph as our guest
preacher this morning. He and his wife Anna are
regular attendees here at First Presbyterian and are
the parents of Donna Hoppestad. Marvin is from
Norfolk, Va., and is a retired Presbyterian minis-
ter. In his ministry he has served churches in
Georgia, Kentucky, Indiana and Pennsylvania.
Pastor Sharon's series of four "Treasures of Dark-
ness" sermons in July on Barbara Brown Taylor's
latest book, "Learning To Walk in the Dark," can
be heard on YouTube through FPC's website
fpcor.org.
