DESCRIPTION

One of the most frustrating issues as a resume writer is when you get "stuck" while you're writing a resume. While there are many ways to get "unstuck," the reason for getting stuck in the first place usually has to do with the information you receive from the client. Whether that's not having enough information, having too much information, or not having the right information, if you're having trouble moving forward with a client project, it usually has to do with information. Collecting better information can help you write better resumes.

The key to a great interview is great questions.

The better the information you have to work with,

the better the résumé.

The average résumé writer spends 5-1/2 hours on a résumé.

Consider the end goal:MWR = Most Wanted Response

MWJ = Most Wanted Job

Do I know this client’s job target?

“Why are you interested in a new job?”

Ask “Big Picture” Questions

The Five “W”sWhoWhatWhenWhereWhy

What does the person in this role need to actually do and accomplish in order

to be considered successful?

If You Get Stuck:

– Do I have enough information?

– Do I have the right information?

– Do I have the wrong information?

SUMMARY:

• Know what to ask before you ask

• Ask the right questions

• Don’t ask too many questions

• Don’t ask questions you’re not going to use the information from
