FORMATION

A good team has people who have varying aptitudes so that they can each contribute different things to a project.

Using the strength mining, you must find a good teammate.

This should not necessarily be a friend.

You both must be fairly opposite in at LEAST 2 AREAS.

Can be anyone from this art block

Must submit strength mining sheets stapled together in pairs for CEO approval

Each team will need to have a team name to present to clients. It should be applicable to art, design, and who you are as a team.

Prospective Clients You will each be assigned a client from the list we

have. They have already provided project preferences. You should write down your top 5 client choice

preferences with NUMBERING on the back of your strength mining sheets (that are stapled together). Example:

TEAM CHALLENGEParameters You will be assigned to work for another

design team. You will have to make a QUICK AND

SMALL ceramic piece for them. This could be a small talisman, logo,

paperweight or such for business…but it is up to you and the client.

It must be 3” or less in any direction.

Working with Clients - Tips Do NOT ASSUME the client knows exactly

what they want! Get as clear as possible to UNDERSTAND

their ideas/needs/desires When possible, have a mutually agreed

How to Interview Clients Be PREPARED

Dress PROFESSIONALLY! Have questions ready! (make sure you know everything

you want to know before you leave!) Have paper and pencil and paper ready for taking notes!

Be EARLY/ON TIME Take the APPROPRIATE amount of time (20-

30minutes) Ask CLARIFYING QUESTIONS to make sure you are

understanding what they want LISTEN more than TALKING BE CONFIDENT!!! BE THANKFUL!!! BE POSITIVE!!!

BEGINNING YOUR INTERVIEW! SMILE, MAKE EYE CONTACT, AND SHAKE THEIR HANDS! Thank them for agreeing to be your client and meet with

you! Introduce yourselves and that you work for

ARTREPRENEURS, INC INTRODUCE the project:

8th grade All artworks are unique custom hand built ceramic

pieces Collaboration between clients and designers is a main

goal of the project Take notes and sketches! Walk through the space and take photos! (During or

after the interview – this is up to the client)

Questions you can ask ClientsOverall Design What type of ceramic design piece do you want (planter, cup, etc)? What purpose will it have (functional or decorative?) Where will this be displayed (including in the room -wall, tabletop, hanging)? What is the audience and intended reaction (what do you want this piece to do for people)? Do you want it to be similar to the design of the room or contrasting?Inspiration Is there a message or theme you want this to have? What is your inspiration for this design? What style do you want?

Simple or Complex Symmetrical or Asymmetrical Ancient, Classical, Modern Cultural?

Size Overall Volume/Size - Big? Small? Medium?Surface Design What surface design do you want?

Patterns Textures Other surface decorations

Color Do you want your pot to be a statement piece (contrasts) or a background touch (blends in)? What colors do you prefer?ARTISTIC LICENSE How much artistic license are you willing to see on the final project?

FINISHING THE INTERVIEW Explain overall process

Sketches done in a couple days A design proposal will be emailed or brought in person (up to the client) Must be approved Begin construction Will contact with any questions, concerns, etc during the process. Pieces will need to dry then be fired in the kiln Glazing will be done and it will be fired again There will be a brief show of all artworks for a couple days They will be able to pick up their works after the show (dates provided

in the near future) When finished, they will receive an email that evaluates their

performance on this job Client – are there any other questions you have about clay or this project? Thank them for their time and the opportunity Tell them when you will contact them again…. HAVE A GOOD DAY!
