STRUCTURAL
FACADESPotential Materials of office•Pine slabs•Aluminium •GRP•GRC•Fritted glass•Laminated glass
FACADE DESIGN 1
Laminated glass, height of 1.1m
Pine slabs
Triple glazing saves up to 7200W
Fritted glass (prevents too much solar gain)
FACADE DESIGN 2
Facades:• how the triple glazed glass would be attached
1) Silicone connection • bigger connection • requires less amount of
glass panels, therefore requires more silicone.
• bigger connection which doesn't meet architects needs
2) Toggle connection•Smaller connection therefore more aesthetically pleasing.•Stronger than using silicone connection
Triple Glazing

UNDERGROUND CAR PARK
Triple Glazing – calculating the heat loss
SERVICES – Heat loss
Total heat loss for the building = 65 kW
Giving an average ‘u value’ of ~ 0.79 Wm-2K-1
Triple glazing saves around 7000 W
Office ventilation (mechanical) Heating and cooling (Air Handling Unit with
Heat Recovery)◦ ground 25x30cm (<25 people),◦ 1st floor 24x36cm (<20 people), ◦ 2nd floor 36x30cm (<30 people),◦ 3rd floor 24x30 (<20 people)

ENVIRONMENT & INFRASTRUCTURE
Teamwork between all the different disciplines is essential.
Much more involved than just making it stand up! Meeting local standards is a pain. Especially when
undertaking foreign projects. About all the different parts involved in a
successful design. (u values, moments, loading) CAD software can be a challenge! But once
mastered can make the process much more efficient.
Litigation between client and contractor is key. And of course, lots of hard work.
What we’ve learnt...
And thanks for the hard work you have all put in to making this a value experience for us!
Thank you for listening to our presentation...
