EASTER SUNDAY: Following an 8-4 victory in last night’s
contest, the Dodgers look to take the series from Arizona as
they play the third contest of a four-game set at Dodger
Stadium today. Los Angeles improved to 5-1 at home this
year and have won 10 of their last 11 contests at Dodger

four contests. Following the four-game series against the D-backs
(2-0), the Dodgers will take on the Rockies for a short two-game
set before going back on the road for their second trip of the
season to Arizona and San Francisco.
Los Angeles improved to 42-17 against Arizona since
the start of the 2014 season and, according to Stats LLC.,
is tied for the highest win total for any series in that span
with the Mets, who have gone 42-18 against the Phillies.

year, the team was 28-16 (.636) in day games,
compiling the best winning percentage in the Majors.
The first 12,000 ticketed kids, 14 and under, will receive
a Kenta Maeda Fathead giveaway this afternoon,
presented by Sunrun.
BACK ON THE HILL: Veteran southpaw Rich Hill, who will
be reinstated from the 10-day disabled list prior to today’s game,
will take the mound for the Dodgers in his second appearance of
the season after missing his last start due to a blister on his left
middle finger. Hill last pitched on April 5 against the Padres,
allowing just one run on two hits in 5.0 innings and struck out five,
while recording the win in his 2017 debut. Since joining the
Dodgers in 2016, Hill has seen success pitching in front of the
home crowd, going 3-1 with a 0.82 ERA (2 ER/22.0 IP), while
holding batters to a .187 average (14-for-75) and striking out 23
against just six walks at Dodger Stadium.
In five career starts against the Diamondbacks, Hill has
gone 1-2 with a 4.60 ERA (15 ER/29.1 IP) and has
limited hitters to a .243 average (27-for-111), while
striking out 25 against 10 walks.
Hill is entering his 13th big league season and made 20
combined starts with Oakland and L.A. in 2016, going
12-5 with a 2.12 ERA and ranked among the Majors’
best (min. 100.0 IP) in ERA (2nd, 1.69), opponents’
batting average (.195, 3rd) and WHIP (1.00, 5th).
OFFENSIVE SURGE: In six home games this season, the
Dodger bats have lit up at Dodger Stadium, as the team is slashing
.294/.395/.526 with 42 runs 15 doubles, 10 homers and 36 RBI to
start the 2017 season. The offense has posted the best on-base
percentage and slugging percentage at home in the big leagues,
while ranking among the best in runs (2nd), batting average (2nd),
doubles (3rd), home runs (T-3rd) and RBI (4th).
Yasiel Puig, currently tied for first in the Majors with
four home runs at home, also ranks third in the senior
circuit with a .529 batting average (9-for-17) at home.
Justin Turner and Corey Seager have also been hot at
Dodger Stadium, hitting .429 (5th, NL) and .409 (7th, NL),
respectively. Turner has hit safely in all five home games
and has collected five doubles, which is tied with
Milwaukee’s Travis Shaw for the most in the bigs.
OH WHAT A RELIEF: The Dodger bullpen had another
scoreless outing last night with Alex Wood leading the way,
tossing 3.1 hitless innings and striking out three to record his first
win of the season. Kenley Jansen recorded his third save of the
season yesterday, striking out three in a perfect 1.1 innings of
relief and collecting his 13th career four-out save. The bullpen
lowered its ERA to 1.14 (5 ER/39.1 IP), which ranks second in
the Major League, just behind the Yankees’ relievers (1.04). The
Dodger bullpen, which ranked second in the Majors in ERA
(3.35), opponents’ batting average (.221) and WHIP (1.16) in
2016, looks to once again be a team strength and also leads the big
leagues with a 0.79 combined WHIP and a .162 opponents’
batting average (23-for-142). The ‘pen also leads the senior circuit
with a 6.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio, striking out 48 (T-4th ML)
against just eight walks.
The Dodgers pitching staff overall has posted a National
League-best 2.75 ERA (32 ER/104.2 IP, 2nd ML), .204
opponents’ batting average and a 1.00 WHIP. Los
Angeles has struck out 111 batters against only 28 walks,
posting a 3.96 strikeout-to-walk ratio, which also leads
the NL.
PUIG YOUR FRIEND: Dodger right fielder Yasiel Puig
reached base safely in all four plate appearances last night, going
3-for-3 with a walk and blasted his team-leading fourth home run
of the season with a three-run shot in the eighth inning. Puig, who
is the only Dodger to have started every game this season, has hit
.333 (13-for-39) with seven runs, two doubles, 10 RBI and two
stolen bases in 12 games. His start to the 2017 season has looked
very familiar to when he made his big league debut in 2013:

H-AB 20-44 13-39
OBP. .478 .440

AUSTIN POWERS: Catcher Austin Barnes slugged his first
home run of his career in his 47th career game (72nd AB) in last
night’s contest, blasting a solo shot in the second inning to left
field off Arizona starter Patrick Corbin. Barnes, who enters his
third season with the Dodger organization and made his second
consecutive Opening Day roster, has shown his versatility in the
big leagues, appearing in 23 games (15 starts) at catcher, eight
games (three starts) at second base and three games at third base,
going errorless in 177.1 combined innings.
WALKING THE WALK(ER): The Dodgers have fared well
against today’s starter for the D-backs, Taijuan Walker, who made
his lone start against the Dodgers as a member of the Mariners on
April 15, 2015. Walker allowed five runs on six hits in 4.0 innings,
as Scott Van Slyke drove in a pair with an RBI double in the first
inning, and Adrían González and Joc Pederson each recorded
an RBI single off Walker.
