IIMSAM is engaged in identifying the needy and neglectedchildren from poor background so that mostly their healthand educational needs can fully be addressed throughfeedingthemonSpirulinatohelpthemliveandenjoyafoodsecure and poverty free hence a more fulfilling life. TheIIMSAMeducationprogramisonesurewayofmakingcertainthat all children on the Spirulina feeding program have achancetofeedonspirulinadaily.ThishelpsthemgothroughthecompletecirclefortheSpirulinafeedingprocesssothatitbecomesapparentwithcertaintythatindeedtheyhavebeenfullysubjectedtotheentireperiodoftheprogramandthatthey are devoid of malnutrition the world’s number onekiller. IIMSAM’sSchoolprogramtheover80Childrenand40adultsalsobenefited from feedingonover800gmsof freshSpirulinaduringthevisits.Wearecurrentlyfeedingover100people daily. Over 80 children and over 20 adults at the

He fetches waterdownstreamafterhisdaylonginschoolwhichhesellstoneighborsinexchangefortheirdailyfood.Thefoodtheymanagetoaccessissubstandardinthefirstplace,itverymuch fallsbelowthenutritional standardsandin most cases it is acquired under very unhygienicconditions, contributing to their stateofmalnutrition.

Theirgenerallivingconditionsandenvironmentalfactorsareabhorrentlypathetic.Thechildremains incommunicado, delinked from the rest of the world and today has remainedconfinedtoawoodenbedwithoutamattressfortherestofthedayandnight.Sheliveswith“SpecialNeeds”which includebeing speechless and is physically immobile. IIMSAMhadahand to influenceher life and thatofmany similarother such children (Seepictureabovechildinawheelchair.)with“SpecialNeeds”.MarywasanIIMSAMChildrecipientofspirulinaand other services provided to her earlier at the Sheikh Zayed Centre. Thus, such carerequiresspecialtiesfor“SpecialNeeds”long-termsustainabilitythatIIMSAMisnotequippedtohandle and that ofmost of theCBOs,NGOs and the local government structure in theProvince. IIMSAM’s Field Director Mr. LWamba has advocated local government officials,NGOs, CBOs and others the imperative need for building infrastructure and trainingindividuals tobe care-takers for the estimated5000+ - childrenwith “SpecialNeeds”whorequirelong-termcareinKisumu.(Seepictureabovechildinawheelchair.)

IIMSAMthereforewishestoappealandextend itsspecialrequestand invitationontheirbehalfforanywillingdonor includingour IIMSAMnotabledonors tokindly continueandextend fiscalassistancefortheirupkeepandsustainabilitywithintheschoolandfeedingprogramforassuredsustained health, quality of life, reduced mortality rate and quality educational needs inpreparednessforequippingthemwiththeirfutureskilledmanpowerrequirementstohelpthemleadnormalqualitylife.Wealsoappealforadditionalfundingfortheplacementofapilot-projectfor“SpecialNeeds”ChildrenwhovisittheCentrenowmorefrequentlythaneveran“extension”budget would relieve the need to use funds from the regular budget which is already underconsiderablestrainduetoanunprecedentedincreaseinvisitstotheCentre.

IIMSAM Working with “Concrete Deeds Compiled” Since 2009: (Data Showed Below compiled daily by the Centre Staff. Cut off date 30th of September 2016: The program has so far produced and distributed over 813,535 doses of Spirulina to date, to benefit over 80,119 people thus over 56,717 children and over 27,299 adults since 2009. The communities in Kisumu continue to rip the abundant health benefits from feeding on Spirulina distributed from IIMSAM Zayed Center.
