Desktop or RemoteFX services: The RDS CAL
• Citrix XenDesktop or XenApp licenses• VMWare View licenses

• Can be licensed per user or per device• Includes rights to use App-V with RD
Sessions• Windows Server version specific, allows
downgrade connections

• SA (Software Assurance) benefit• VDA (Virtual Desktop Access)• Windows Intune• CSL (Companion Subscription License)
* Regardless of VDI tech used, the virtual Client OS license is always required!

Key Points• The Windows CSL provides employees whose primary device is licensed with SA the rights to access a corporate
desktop either through a VDI or WTG on up to four devices.
• Devices eligible for use under the Windows CSL include any type of personally owned device as well as corporate owned non-x86 devices.
• The Windows CSL will cost less than a single Windows VDA license
