May, 2013- best Access students, teachers and assistants were invited at “Tea at the US Ambassadors’ ” event

July, 2013- Brent Israelsen, Assistant Public Affairs Officer, US Embassy Moldova visited Access Summer Camp

July, 2013- Senator Mike Brubaker and Mrs. Cindy Brubaker visited Access students from Balti and Varnita/ Bender at the summer camp

Collaboration with Participants/Alumni of other USG programs

April, 2013- Skype Conference between the Access group from Ungheni and a group of students from Belleville West High School, Belleville, USA.

April- August, 2013- US Fulbright students had a series of classes and extracurricular activities with Access students from Chisinau (disabled kids), Ungheni, Cahul , and during Summer camp (team-building activities)

Community Service Projects and Activities

June-August, 2013 The Access groups from Ungheni and Varnita /Bender were involved in the Youth Civic Engagement Training sponsored by Outreach Fund. Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to implement their own community projects entitled

“Buy, Use, Recycle It!” and “4H (Happy Human in a Happy Home)”, respectively.

April, 2013- Ungheni Access group organized the “Horse Alert” Flash-mob- an appeal for the entire community to help the horses from the Ungheni sanctuary, where these animals are under the risk of dying of starvation.

May, 2013- Easter celebrated by Access group from Cahul

Trainings April, 2013- 10 Access

teachers and 10 Access teacher- assistants participated in “Shaping the Way We Teach English: Best Access Practices” Teacher Training for Access Program

April, 2013- Access teachers participated at the Webinar on “Incorporating Grammar, Writing and Assessment into Your Classes” , led by Susan Ianuzzi, EFL specialist

Trainings August-September, 2013- Team building trainings were held with

new Access groups (Orhei, Straseni) and Comrat to develop the team spirit and increase the group cohesion.

Workshops and Conferences

April, 2013- 4 Access teachers participated at APLE International Conference

May, 2013- 6 Access groups attended the “Grant Writing Basics: Creating a fundable proposal” workshop

June, 2013- 20 Access teachers and teacher-assistants participated at “Teaching Children with Special Education Needs: methodology and Practice” Workshop

January-May, 2013- Access students collaborated with iEARN within two Learning Circles: Global Issues: The Environment; and My Hero: High School, developing and implementing 5 online projects; namely  “Ungheni City Quest”;  ‘ The Problem of Garbage in Balti: Save Your Planet!”, “Green Month”; “Beauty Everywhere”, and others.

All projects were published on iEARN web site.

April-August, 2013- online assignments during Skype classes on health hazards, cultural aspects of dances, and verbal and non-verbal communication.

Professional Development of Access Teachers

April-August, 2013- 2 Access teachers graduated 2 E-Teacher Scholarship Program courses at University of Oregon, USA

( 2 courses: Evaluation Course, and Introduction to Pedagogy and Practices for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL Methods))

Gavrilita from Access- Chisinau group, described her experienced feelings of

freedom when she noticed a big change in the behavior of her children who

became more independent only in a few days of participation at Access Summer

Camp.
