To increase participation in local government & neighborhood improvement activities by creating a

safe and welcoming setting in which residents get to know one another and become closely identified

with their neighborhood.

Residents will learn self-help techniques that will enable them to:

• Connect with their community to foster involvement, pride and respect.

• Improve communication and conflict resolution.

• Identify and access community resources and services.

• Qualify for home ownership or avert foreclosure.

• Understand and comply with Neighborhood Preservation Ordinance.

Residents learn to respect and value diversity while increasing their awareness of the services available through the City of Phoenix and local

agencies.

• Introduction to the Neighborhood Services Department and how to access City of Phoenix Services

• Landlord and Tenant Rights• The Most Common Blight

Violations• Improving Communication with

the Fire and Police Departments• Neighborhood Pride and the Role

of the Neighborhood Association

&Valle del Sol Community Power Program

have come together for a10 week Program

in theWest Phoenix Revitalization Area.

The Community Power program is a grassroots leadership development program that works to facilitate dialogue between residents of a community and their elected leaders

It further aims to help residents gain a better understanding about the functions of local government and how they can more effectively participate in public policy.
