elcome to the tenth issue of Pratibimb: JKLU Newsletter. This edition captures Wevents, activities and academic prowess and achievements of first half of the Academic year 2015-2016 corresponding to six months i.e. July-December,
2015.
JKLU welcomed Dr. R. L. Raina with great enthusiasm as the Vice Chancellor of the University on October 14, 2015. Dr. Raina is recognized as one of the top Academic Leaders in India who have created and transformed Institutes of higher learning.
This issue highlights multifaceted activities and events held during the reporting period. The mega event which JKLU celebrated with great passion was the Second JKLU Laureate Award conferred on Padma Bhushan Prof. Lord Meghnad Desai. The University also celebrated its foundation day with exuberance and elegance on 23 November, 2015. The University also hosted a three days ISG-ISRS National Symposium on “Geomatics and Space Science for Digital India”.
A number of Training programmes and workshops held during the period. Industrial visits at many organizations were also organized for students of JKLU as an important step to provide industrial exposure to them. E-Cell of JKLU organized many events to encourage and support entrepreneurship at the campus. Expert lectures were also held during the period. Panorama of events were celebrated with great enthusiasm and passion.
The research oriented faculty of both management and engineering are passionate to engage themselves in research and academic activities. They received number of awards, honors and achievements. A number of peer reviewed research papers, books, case studies, etc. were published in national and international journals. They also presented their research work in number of national and international conferences.
So here, the issue is now in your hand. We hope that this issue will cater to the need of all stakeholders. We also invite all your valuable inputs to make the newsletter more meaningful to all our readers.

DEFINING MOMENTS
Dr. Roshan Lal Raina joined JKLU as the Vice Chancellor of the University on October 14, 2015. Dr. Raina is a Professor of 'Communication'. Dr. Raina is known for building and managing state-of-the-art and world-class academic infrastructure, including the
learning resource center at IIM Lucknow. On the academic front, besides teaching a variety of innovative courses in the areas of 'Communication for Management', he has had several prestigious assignments in educational institutes in US, UK, France, Germany, and Canada. Reputed organizations like the Fulbright Foundation (USA), the British Council (UK), the Max Mueller Bhawan (Germany), the ESCP-EAP (France), and the IDRC (Canada) sponsored these assignments. In terms of research, he has authored 6 and edited 11 bestselling books, journal volumes and conference/seminar proceedings. Dr. Raina has published 70 research papers in national and international level peer-reviewed journals and has also presented (mostly on invitation) 118 papers in national and international conferences and seminars.
We look forward to Dr. Raina providing inspiring leadership in achieving our vision of making our University a benchmark institution of Higher Learning and Research.

Raina, Hon'ble Vice Chancellor, JKLU briefed the audience about the philosophy behind instituting the JKLU Laureate Award and also about the series of Hari Shankar Singhania Memorial Orations. The award ceremony involved reading out the Citation with subsequent conferment of the Award on Lord Desai by Hon'ble Chancellor, Shri Bharat Hari Singhania. This was followed by the Second Hari Shankar Singhania Memorial Oration that was delivered by Lord Desai. Dr. R.P. Singhania, Hon'ble Pro Chancellor, JKLU proposed the Vote of Thanks.

The Second JKLU Laureate Award was conferred on Padma Bhushan Prof. Lord Meghnad Desai during the award ceremony held on October 17, 2015. The Ceremony was presided over by Shri Bharat Hari Singhania, Hon'ble Chancellor of the University and was attended by members of the Board of Management, Academic Council and Board of Studies of the University apart from guests, invitees, parents, students, and fraternal members of the University. Lord Desai also delivered the Second Hari Shankar Singhania Memorial Oration on the day.

efforts of the Govt. of Rajasthan in facilitating the
participation of private sector in higher education. He
appreciated the vision of JK Organisation to provide
higher education to the people of this country and
especially the students of Rajasthan. The evening came
to an end with mesmeric performances by the students
of the University during a colorful cultural programme
which enthralled the audience.

exposure, develop proficiency, enhance skills and
achieve success in their career and life.

The Indian Society of Geomatics (ISG) and the Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) conducted a joint national symposium on 'Geomatics and Space Science for Digital India' during December 16-18, 2015. This mega event was jointly hosted by JK Lakshmipat University Jaipur and ISG Jaipur Chapter. The Symposium was inaugurated by Dr. M. Annadurai, Programme Director, Indian Remote Sensing Satellites (IRS) and ISRO Satellite Centre, Bangalore.
The second day of the ISG symposium had a wonderful galaxy of speakers and the most prominent feature of the day was the special session named as 'Vikarm Sarabhai Memorial Lecture'. The lecture was presented by Hon'ble Secretary, Ministry of Culture, GOI, Mr. N. K. Sinha, IAS. The session was chaired by the noted space scientist Mr. A. S. Kiran Kumar, Hon'ble Chairman of ISRO and President of ISRS. At the end of the day a mesmerizing cultural eve with a flavour of Rajasthani culture was organized for all the participants of the symposium.
The Day 3 of the Symposium started with an industry
session, in which the representatives of various
industries such as ISGR, Scanpoints Geomatics Ltd., OGC
Mumbai, Hexagon Gurgaon, IIRS Dehradun and
Urthecast presented their work in various related areas.
The symposium was further proceeded by different
technical sessions based on the themes such as
Environment & Climate Change, Sustainable Land
Management and Renewable Energy, Geosciences, etc.

session, which was chaired by Prof. P. G. Diwakar, Vice
President-ISRS and Deputy Director-NRSC, Hyderabad.

JK lakshmipat University was awarded with 'Best University for Academic Excellence in India' by Smt. Vasuben Trivedi, Hon'ble MoS for Higher and Technical Education, Govt. of Gujarat in 'Education Excellence Awards for 2015'- a function jointly organized by The Education Post and ASSOCHAM at Ahmedabad on December 22, 2015.

TRAINING PROGRAMMES
Institute of Management, JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur organized case review meeting on October 3, 2015 of cases developed in Ninth Case Writing Workshop held during June 4 to 6, 2015. It was attended
thby faculty teams who were the part of 9 case writing workshop and were collectively working on developing cases on respective organization. The review began with the address of Dr. S.K. Majumdar -Director IM, and facilitator of Case Writing Workshop. Dr. Majumdar presented the case on “Manipal Hospital” which was
thdeveloped by him during the 9 case writing workshop, it was set as an example wherein the participating members could understand the art of writing a teaching case. Further the workshop proceeded with the presentation of redrafted case by each groups and sharing review comments by the colleagues and facilitator. The workshop concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Upasana Singh, coordinator of the Case Review Meeting.

T h e S e c o n d I n t e r n s h i p E xc h a n g e P ro g ra m
collaborated between JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur
(India) and St. Cloud State University (USA) held from
May 29, 2015 to August 05, 2015. This Programme was
an extension to the first internship exchange program
which was held earlier in the year 2014. As a journey
towards the successful implementation of MOU's
signed between the Universities, this program has
been designed with the purpose to apprise the
students of both the University with industrial training
as well as the inter-country cultural exposure. Two
students of JKLU- one from MBA Program (Mr.
Kushang Agarwal – MBA Sem II), and one from B. Tech
Program (Mr. Digvijay Singh Shekhawat – B. Tech IV
Sem) were selected for this exchange program. Two
students of SCSU (Mr. Alman Asif Ali – B. S.
Manufacturing Engineering and Mr. Peter Ojambo –
B.S. Mechanical Engineering) visited JKLU and JK
Lakshmi Cement Ltd. (JKLC), Sirohi from July 2 - August
5, 2015. This program was coordinated by Dr. Umesh
Gupta, Associate Professor – IET, JKLU.
Dr. Ben Beliga, Professor and Director, MEM Program of St. Cloud State University, USA visited JKLU on July 7-8, 2015. He delivered an expert lecture on July 7, 2015 for the Students of B. Tech. second year. The topic of the talk was 'Applications of Mathematics in various Engineering disciplines'. On the second day of his visit he delivered a lecture on the topic 'Optimization Techniques in an Engineer's life' to B. Tech III Year and IV Year students.

A three-day workshop on 'Open source GIS and Its
Application in Civil Engineering' was organised by Civil
Engineering Department from July 24 to 26, 2015.

A CAD Softwares Training Program Series under 'Student's Skill Development Program' was organized by the Institute of Engineering & Technology for the students of B. Tech during September 4-6, 2015; September 11-13, 2015; and October 16-19, 2015. Mr. Vipul Dave from Vision World Tech (Pvt.) Ltd., a training and consultant firm, carried out the training session on 'Design Philosophy and Product design and Development'. The program was coordinated by Prof. Sachin Gangwar.

The Registration of the New Batch of MBA (2015-17), BBA (2015-20) and B.Com. (2015-20) at the Institute of Management, JK Lakshmipat University held during July 13-14, 2015. The Invocation and Induction Programme (I&IP) for them was scheduled during July 15-17, 2015.
On July 15, 2015, the Invocation Ceremony started with blessings from the Hon'ble Vice Chancellor and Director-IM. The Faculty of Institute of Management, too, welcomed the new batch students. Parents of the students also pitched in by saying that how happy they were to see their wards join a leading educational entity like JKLU. In the end, the Vote of Thanks was conveyed by Col. S. Manohar -Deputy Registrar, JKLU. The post lunch session was engaged by Mr. P. M. Bhardwaj, Motivation & Management Guru, Bhardwaj Foundation and Managing Director, Instrumentation Limited, Kota on the topic 'Motivation with the Essence of Knowledge & Intellect Management'.
The second day of the I&IP began with another guest lecture session by Mr. Somesh Gupta, Delivery Manager, FSI and Centre Head, Infosys Ltd., Jaipur on the topic – 'Career Planning for Young Executives'.

Institute of Engineering and Technology was organized from 20-24 July, 2015. During the first half of day one students registered themselves in their respective branches of engineering.
In the second half, the Invocation started with welcoming the new students. Dr. Sandeep Kumar Tomar, briefed the gathering about the purpose of the Invocation and Induction Programme. Dr. Anupam Kumar Singh, Director IET delivered the welcome address. Col. S. Manohar, the Deputy Registrar of the University briefed the students about the 'Does and don'ts during their stay at University'. This was followed by introduction of faculty members of IET. On this occasion, some of the parents accompanying new students to the campus came forward and shared their sense of pride in having associated themselves with JKLU. The invocation session ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sandeep Kumar Tomar.

Mr. Jamini to the gathering. Mr. Ashok during his address to the gathering elaborated the contribution of Sir Vishveshwarya in the field of Engineering. After inaugural session, a series of competitions took place. Dr. A. P. Gupta, Head of Department, Civil Engineering Department, MNIT was the Chief Guest of the Valedictory Session. Dr. Gupta addressed the gathering and shared his insights on the need of an honest engineer in today's society. After his speech, the distribution of prizes took place to the students of IET, JK Lakshmipat University who stood as winner and runner up in the different competitions, which were organised earlier on the same day. The ceremony was concluded with vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Sonal Jain. The day long went was coordinated by Dr. Sonal Jain, Prof. Jagdish Sharma and Prof. Mohneesh Sharma.

thPraktikum - the 4 National Summer Internship Project Presentation Contest was organized by Institute of Management, JKLU on September 11, 2015. Welcome address was delivered by Dr. S.K. Majumdar, Director – IM, JKLU. The contest was then declared open for presentation. The contest was judged by the jury members – Shri Suresh Choudhary, Retd. JK Lakshmipat University, Jaipur celebrated a National Level Tech-Management Fest, SABRANG-2015 based on the theme 'Express the Colours Within' on October 30-31, 2015. SABRANG - Tech-Management Fest of JK Lakshmipat University was inaugurated on October 30, 2015. The Chief Guest of the occasion was one of the popular play back singer of Bollywood Mr. Ravinder Upadhyay. The event was set rolling with the encouraging words of Chief Guest who highlighted the importance of education and fun in the life of youth. Dr. S. K. Majumdar, Director, Institute of Management welcomed the audience. The inaugural session was followed by various events such as Bull & Bears, Junkyard War, Lan Gaming, C-Debugging, Webpage Designing, Rangoli & Chitrakala, Treasure Hunt, Dance Competition and Fashion show. The first day concluded with a DJ Party.
JK Lakshmipat University participated in a blood donation camp organized by Government of Rajasthan on the occasion of birth anniversary of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya on September 25, 2015. The students and faculty members of JKLU donated 4-units in an event organized on the premises of RIET Bhankrota, Jaipur. The activity was coordinated by Prof. Divanshu Jain.

A National Quiz Contest named India Intelligence
Contest (IIC) was organized by Institute of Engineering
& Technology, JKLU October 3, 2015. The contest was
divided into two categories – for the Graduating th th Students, and for the Students of 11 and 12 Standard.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Anupam
Kumar Singh, Director- Institute of Engineering &
Technology. Following this, Dr. Jaya Gupta, Coordinator- th
5 IIC, introduced the concept of IIC to the audience.

and Former Principal of University Maharani College,
the Chief Guest of the event addressed the participants. thEr. Yogesh Rohilla, Coordinator- 5 IIC, briefed the
contestants about the rules and regulations, and
different stages and rounds of the contest. Er. Vinod thVishwakarma, Coordinator- 5 IIC, proposed the vote of
thanks.
The quiz was divided into several rounds. Some of the
most exciting rounds were Memory Round, Visual
Round, Rapid-Fire Round, Buzzer Round, Do-or-Die
Round, Advertisement, Audio and Identify-and-Discover
Round. Winning team for the college category was from
Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (Jaipur Centre), who th grabbed the first position and the 5 India Intelligence
Contest Trophy. The team from Poornima College of
Engineering, Jaipur clinched the runner- up trophy. In
the school category, teams from Subodh Public School,
Jaipur won the trophy of Winners and Runner up both.
Dr. Anupam Kumar Singh addressed the gathering in the
Valedictory Session and congratulated all the winners
and participants for enthusiastic participation. The
valedictory session ended with the vote of thanks by
Dr. Jaya Gupta.

The second day of the festival, October 31, 2015, started with even more enthusiasm events Viz. Abhibyakti (Ad-Mad Show), Rang Manch (SKIT) , Chal -Achal (Photography), Pratibha (Talent Show), Aaroh Avroh / Swaranjali ( Solo/ Duet Singing Competition). SABRANG 2015 came to its end on the second day with the Valedictory Session by awarding attractive cash prizes, trophy and certificate for winners and runner-ups. The event concluded with a dazzling and delighting SUPERSONIC musical performances on the same evening. The event was well executed by the student core coordinators under the guidance of Dr. Vipin Kumar Jain, Dr. Vinay Asthana, Dr. Richa Mishra and Prof. H. P. Agrawal.
