92 Aphorisms for a Queer Theory to-come
1. An aphorism prophesises, it vaticinates (vaticination=prophecy). One might expect it
to say what will be true of queer theory, to proffer what (it) is or what it will be (or
will have been). But the aphorism monumentalizes, arrests in advance what cannot be
prophesized. Queer theory is a propheticity without prophetism.

92. The promise is to keep the promise of making room for and giving rise to the queer
theory to-come, but it is never given in advance. The queer theory à-venir. The French
preposition à is important: it inclines, it tends, it veers. In itself à can suggest a
movement toward (as in “to”-come) if not an opening to something or someone else
[arrivance], but also to somewhere else, to some other time. Queer is that very opening
to alterity, to another, to others, to other times, other spaces, each time, unique.
