Initially, the mar·ch to the Seoul area 1·1as to commence·· at

0800 hours. However, divis:.ton r-atified r~giment tb.a~ there hadbeen

a chan:se in plans and that the move vrould tal.;;:e r;lace after the hours

of dark.ness. The plan i'o,r the march vras for the regiment to :move

in :n2.rch units v1i th Hq & Hq company and 3rd Bn in tlJ.e first march

unit and the remainder of'the regiment in the second march miit.

-After spending the daylizsht hours prepar•ing for the move, the

first march unit cleared the IP at 2200 hours \vith the·second

At 0100 hours, the regiment vras lJlaced on a semi-operational

status and ordered to reconnoiter: to the east along the south bank

of the Han River. The resiment I·Tas further ordered to prepare to

occupy blocking positions to the south and east in the gene,ral

vicinity of' C!::U~1}JJU. A patrol Has disi,Jatched at da.vm to recormoit-

er the ass isned area for defensive positions, road netv;ork, and

possible avenues of enemy approach. (POR 91)

. At dawn, the regiment initiated its move. The movement was

effected '.-li thout incident, excepting the tank company which bad

difficulty in negotiating a mountain pass vvhich v1as covered with

ice and snow, and was forced to halt for the night. Upon arrival -~

The 2nd Bn took up blocking and delaying positions in the
