Left and right brain have to work…

to maximise your brain power

Did you know……………….?

Every time you learn something, you form a new pathway between neurons. The more times you repeat a thought/action, the thicker the neuron becomes.

You can exercise your brain like a muscle

So, with your left (ACADEMIC & CONSCIOUS learning) hemisphere:

Use it or lose it!

What of your right (SUBCONSCIOUS & CREATIVE) hemisphere?

It is subconscious learning that you can use to your advantage.

•Put posters around your room on what you are trying to learn

•Highlight your notes whilst you learn a topic•Make and Listen to recordings

•Use colour and lots of mind maps when you learn

HOW?

•When you read, write or concentrate you are using your academic and conscious learning (left) hemisphere

•When you are relaxed, learning happens through your creative and subconscious learning (right) hemisphere

IN SUMMARY

•Say things out loud to help you REMEMBER

•Record things on tape, and play it back when you are at home, in the car etc.

WORKING WITH RIGHT AND LEFT BRAIN

•Don’t study with music on- you need QUIET in order to CONCENTRATE

•REAL revision MAKES YOUR BRAIN HURT

at school!2) The thinking brain has two sidesLEFT: ACADEMIC HALFspeech, number facts, handwriting, “CONSCIOUS LEARNING”

RIGHT: CREATIVE HALFspatial, images, art and music,“SUNCONSCIOUS LEARNING”

BUT

Did you know that people …….

Use it or lose it!

1. Optimists (those who look on the bright side)LEARN BETTER AND FASTER than pessimists (those who look on the dark side)2. We learn TWICE AS FAST when we
