On behalf of all Fijians in this rugby-loving nation, I extend a warm welcome to members and officials of the Chiefs and Crusaders teams; Welcome again to Fiji and please enjoy our Fijian hospitality! I also welcome all local Super Rugby fans and those who have travelled from abroad to witness and experience another weekend of great rugby.

On behalf of the Gallagher Chiefs I would like to extend a nice warm welcome to ANZ Stadium, Suva for this Investec Super Rugby match between two old foes . Both the Gallagher Chiefs and BNZ Crusaders are thrilled to be back on Fijian soil resuming hostilities in 2017. It would be fair to say tonight’s clash is pivotal to both teams 2017 aspirations, so the scene is set!! The BNZ Crusaders have set a red hot pace at the top of the NZ Conference with a number of Kiwi teams in close pursuit.
We are well aware of the passion Fijian people have for the game of Rugby Union and it seems entirely appropriate that Super Rugby is again extending its reach to this part of the South Pacific. Fiji has produced so many players that have graced the NZ game over the years that it is truly fitting that the local people get to see rugby of this calibre up close and personal. We look forward to putting on a quality event for people to enjoy tonight.
Tonight’s match has been the culmination of a lot of hard work from a lot of people. Our thanks to the Fijian Government, the Fijian Sports Council and Fortress Information Systems Limited for the part they have played in making it a reality again in 2017. Likewise a big thank you to the hard working staff of the Chiefs who have embraced this challenge with their usual enthusiasm and professionalism.
Finally to our dedicated sponsors and fans who have come across from New Zealand we look forward to a typically passionate Gallagher Chiefs v BNZ Crusaders clash. Whatever the outcome of tonight’s match I have no doubt rugby will be the winner!

Ceo’sCOMMENT
ANZ Stadium is braced for a mammoth Investec Super Rugby clash tonight with the number one and two placed New Zealand conference sides battling it out in Suva, Fiji. A Gallagher Chiefs win will close the gap on the Crusaders at the top of the New Zealand conference, whereas a victory for the Crusaders will ensure their unbeaten run continues and extends their lead at the top.
It is the second meeting between these two sides in Suva, following a highly successful visit to Fiji last year in July. The Gallagher Chiefs were victors that time, beating the Crusaders 23-13 in a highly entertaining encounter. Winger James Lowe and halfback Brad Weber got on the score sheet that night, with the extra points being added off the reliable boot of Damian McKenzie.
The Crusaders are in red hot form under Coach Scott Robertson in 2017. Their last game in Round 12 saw them take on 2016 champions the Hurricanes in Christchurch. In a bruising battle, the Crusaders dominated up front, winning them game 20-12. The Crusaders are currently on an 11 game unbeaten run turning in clinical performances every week and will be hoping their consistency continues in Suva.
The Gallagher Chiefs have won nine games so far this campaign, with their only defeat coming at the hands of the Stormers in Cape Town. They have a fantastic NZ derby record so far in 2017, notching up well-earned victories against the Highlanders, Blues, and Hurricanes in the opening three rounds of the competition.
Damian McKenzie has been in fantastic form for the Gallagher Chiefs and will be one to watch tonight. McKenzie has 69 points to his name, and has ran 951 metres with 15 clean breaks through opposition defence.
Brodie Retallick is another player in fine form. The lock has scored two tries so far in the campaign, and has been a prominent figure in the Gallagher Chiefs forward pack.
Head to head, the Gallagher Chiefs hold a recent advantage over the Crusaders winning six of the
