As we begin a new school year, the thought on everyone’s mind is how to make 2016-2017 even more interactive, educational, and engaging for students than last year.

Here are ten iOS apps that all teachers can use to support inquiry-based learning in their classrooms.

problem solving, perception, spatial skills, memory & creativity.

Popplet Great for work and for school! Popplet is a platform used to generate excellent ideas. Its simple interface allows you to move at the speed of your thoughts.

Users can capture your ideas, sort them visually and collaborate with others in real time.

Idea Sketch Idea Sketch lets you easily draw a diagram & convert it to a text outline, vice versa. Students can use it for brainstorming new ideas, illustrating concepts,

making lists & outlines, planning presentations, creating organizational charts etc.

Visual Poetry Students all over the world are using Visual Poetry to create stunning, visually appealing poetry. The app is appropriate for both elementary and secondary

school classrooms. The app’s name implies that it only works for poetry, but it will work with any text that students write.

VideoNotes VideoNotes is a free web tool that helps students take notes on a video they are

watching. The notes are synchronized with the video being viewed. The advantage to using VideoNotes is that it is integrated into Google Drive, which

makes it easy for students to save their work when done.

Explain Everything Explain Everything is a great interactive screen-casting whiteboard app that

students could use to create their own video tutorials and explanatory guides. The app is easy to use and offers a host of features that make creating and

sharing learning experiences fun.

Book Creator Book Creator is one of the best apps students can use to create next- generation PDFs and comics. It is versatile enough to be used in any

content area and students can extend their creativity by app-smashing and creating images with other apps.

Lino Lino can be used when researching alone or in groups and for sharing

files, videos and pictures quickly from one computer to another. Students can also write tasks for each member of their inquiry group

on a sticky, so that everyone has a responsibility.

Stoodle Stoodle , an online white board service, enables students and teachers to

quickly create and work on a collaborative whiteboard space. The app allows you to write, draw and upload images. It also enables you to connect it with your device’s microphone and talk to the people you

collaborate with.

Plain Text A simple text editor with an uncomplicated, paper-like user

interface. Biggest feature is the ability to create and organize documents in folders and then sync everything with Dropbox from

within the app.
