President’s Message
Happy New Year Fellow LVTC Members!
It is hard to believe, but 2016 is over and we are in to 2017! I hope everyone had a Hap-
py, Healthy And Family Fun Filled Christmas.
While 2016 was a very active year for our Club, we did several things worth special
mention that reflects our Club’s dedication to our Lehigh Valley Community and our pas-
sion for the Thunderbird Automobile.
Members came out to support and judge the Greater Lehigh Valley Automobile
Dealer’s High School Automotive Competition at Northampton Community College in
February
Members attended the Jordon United Church of Christ Car Show and made a donation
Lehigh Valley Thunderbird Club canceled it’s membership with the International Thun-
derbird Club due to ITC reneging on the Convention agreement with LVTC
Lehigh Valley host Thunderbird owners under our own tent at All Fords in Carlisle PA
LVTC host Nazareth Day Car Show, raised money for Nazareth Food Bank ($760.00)
and Lehigh Valley Pediatric Cancer Foundation ($740.00)
LVTC goes it alone to host ALL THUNDERBIRD Convention and gets support from
many clubs across the country to have a very successful event
LVTC donated funds raised from ALL THUNDERBIRD Convention to Alzheimer’s Na-
tional Foundation ($500.00) and Lehigh Valley Pediatric Cancer Foundation ($500.00)
While 2017 has not been planned out, I can assure you we will be as active in our commu-
nity, supporting the Food Bank, Pediatric Cancer Foundation and several local charities/
churches our members support.
So my challenge to you for 2017 is simple, GET INVOVED ! No one expects everyone to
make every event or be involved with every event, just pick one or two
and jump in, help out and get involved. Be an active member of the
Club and join in.
Happy New Year!
See you at a meeting or event,
Vince.

Project “Thunderbird 66” By Vince Luppino
A while ago I came across a 1997 Thunderbird LX, 4.6l V-8 equipped, with about 87,000 miles. The owner
really liked the car and did a great job maintaining it. So I decided to purchase the car and use it to follow
RT66 across the our great country. Since we rarely get stories about our member’s cars anymore, I decided I
would document its updates to insure the car will make it across the country on RT 66, hence the designation
Project “Thunderbird 66”. Some of the updates planned are: 70 mm Throttle Body and Trick Flow Air Horn to
Intake Manifold; New MSD Coil Packs, E3 Spark Plugs and New Spark Plug Wires; Water Pump, Serp Belt,
new idler pulleys and Aluminum Core Radiator for better cooling. Brakes will be upgraded to Calipers with
phenalic pistons, drilled and slotted rotors all around with ceramic brakes, stainless steel brake hoses and
filled with DOT 5.1 brake fluid. I plan to add a Jet Performance Chip to the ECU to up both engine response
and fuel economy on the highway. The interior is in good shape, so just planning to add an upgraded radio
with Bluetooth capability and MP3 input, an in dash CB radio and a window mounted navigation system. Since
I plan to use this more as a driver that will clean up for local car shows, I am also going to install a tow hitch
and related wiring to it so it can tow a small cargo trailer under 2600lbs. Rear suspension will get a supple-
mented air suspension system to level out the vehicle when towing. Overall, the car should be a nice cruiser
with a little more than normal utility. I will have it at various functions as I add the upgrades, so if you have any
questions, just ask.
UPDATE As of December 30th, 2016;
70 mm Throttle Body and 400 CFM
Upper Intake plenum installed
Cold Air intake and Modified Air Box
MSD High Output Coil Packs

For more than two decades, Auto Mania has been Pennsylvania's biggest indoor heated swap meet and the tradition continues
this year with support from Carlisle Events. The 59,000 square foot facility that is Agricultural Hall at the Allentown PA Fair-
grounds plays host to a wide array of vendors and attendees annually. This event is a great opportunity to interact with likemind-
ed enthusiasts in a family friendly atmosphere and is the perfect setting to buy, sell and trade all things automotive. Auto Mania
not only has a swap meet, there is a car corral too. There's a great array of parts, literature, services and more. Best of all,
you're less than two hours from New York City, Philadelphia and Scranton with major roads like I-78, the Pennsylvania Turnpike
and Route 22 all nearby. This event takes place no matter the weather and won't cancel, be postponed or rescheduled under
any circumstance. Consider spending your weekend with Carlisle Events in Allentown for Auto Mania and jumpstart the New
Year with great automotive excitement.
