“Promoting a research culture – one of the main goals of the

University, a responsibility that is shared among the members of

the academic community” emphasized Vice President for

Academic Affairs, Dr. Kathleen Rose L. Guimbatan when she

met the Council of Deans and the new Director for Research and

Publications, Dr. Jaime Gutierrez – Ang last August 26, 2020 in

a round table discussion on the status of research in the

University.

Further, she posited that “for a University to be really recognized

as one, it must perform its three basic thrusts: to teach, to conduct

community service and to produce new knowledge through

research. “Through the years, PCU has recognized the value of

research and the administration has made it a priority, various

strategies have been explored in order to encourage faculty and

students to do research.

Some colleges and universities have reached a level of

competence and maturity in conducting research and PCU for that

matter has set its sight on achieving similar goals which the new

Director for Research promised to deliver as he presented the

University Research Agenda and Research Roadmap (2020 -

2024).

Attendees to this round table discussion include Dean

Carmencita M. Dueñas, Ed.D. (CASSW), Dean Jill A.

Valderama, Ed.D. CEDAP/GSED, Engr. Mardonio M.

Agustin, Jr., Mit (CEIT), Dean CRISELDA A. REGENCIA,

MAEd (CHT) and Dean Narciso Immanuel C. Managuelod,

DBA (CBAA)/GSBM).

institutions are the prime movers
