PCU Commitment:
Excellent and
Affordable Education
Amid Pandemic
Flexible learning means that the faculty facilitates
learning through various online learning platforms (i.
e, Bluebook, Google Classroom, etc.). Learners are
given a time-frame to access the instructional modules
on these assignments. This learning modality allows
student – learners to study at their own convenience,
time and pace vis-à-vis their limited access to the
internet.
The Information Technology Department’s Director,
Asst. Prof. Mario G. Miranda II posits that “PCU is
offering flexible learning modalities which allow
students to continue their PCU education based on
accessibility and their learning capability; Using
technology in teaching and learning isn’t new to the
University, it has been an integral part of how we
teach and how students learn.”
Lastly, as a compassionate university, PCU continues
to provide the best and most affordable digital and
humanistic education that enable continuous learning
especially during times of crisis. Further, the
University continues to prove itself as an invaluable
partner in promoting 21st century life – long learning.
Amid the tremendous impact of the prevailing
COVID – 19 pandemic to the Philippine’s
educational system, Philippine Christian
University, a CHED Autonomous higher education
institution remains a vanguard to its commitment
of Faith, Character and Service as its core values
by providing excellent/quality 21st century
education while focusing a premium on health,
safety and wellness of its stakeholders i.e.,
students, faculty, personnel and parents.
“The University is very serious of the
current health crisis in the country,
however, this will not stop us to carry on
our responsibility and commitment to the
PCU community following the great
traditions of the United Methodist
Church and United Church of Christ in
the Philippines have set forth “said
Junifen F. Gauuan, Ph.D., President of
the Philippine Christian University in
his message to the academic
community.”
Fact remains that safety and health of the students
are of utmost concern and priority as they continue
their academic journey at PCU which opened
School Year 2020 – 2021 by adapting the flexible
learning modalities in the delivery of quality and
affordable education.

“Promoting a research culture – one of the main goals of the
University, a responsibility that is shared among the members of
the academic community” emphasized Vice President for
Academic Affairs, Dr. Kathleen Rose L. Guimbatan when she
met the Council of Deans and the new Director for Research and
Publications, Dr. Jaime Gutierrez – Ang last August 26, 2020 in
a round table discussion on the status of research in the
University.
Further, she posited that “for a University to be really recognized
as one, it must perform its three basic thrusts: to teach, to conduct
community service and to produce new knowledge through
research. “Through the years, PCU has recognized the value of
research and the administration has made it a priority, various
strategies have been explored in order to encourage faculty and
students to do research.
Some colleges and universities have reached a level of
competence and maturity in conducting research and PCU for that
matter has set its sight on achieving similar goals which the new
Director for Research promised to deliver as he presented the
University Research Agenda and Research Roadmap (2020 -
2024).
Attendees to this round table discussion include Dean
Carmencita M. Dueñas, Ed.D. (CASSW), Dean Jill A.
Valderama, Ed.D. CEDAP/GSED, Engr. Mardonio M.
Agustin, Jr., Mit (CEIT), Dean CRISELDA A. REGENCIA,
MAEd (CHT) and Dean Narciso Immanuel C. Managuelod,
DBA (CBAA)/GSBM).
Quote
“I believe that educational
institutions are the prime movers
in the arena of art appreciation.”
