We Are A Make Things HappenCompany says Ron Gregory

Since starting his own auction firm back in 1994, Ron Gregory has seen a lot of changes. Some good and by some stan-dards, not so good. But, the thing remainsconstant since he first received his auc-tioneers license is, you gotta make thingshappen.

Ron started making things happen back in 1985 when he received his auctioneerslicense. Selling some of everything dur-ing the early years of his career, Ron

learned his craft well. I got my real estatelicense in 1986. At that time I was work-ing with veteran auctioneer Feller Brown

It was a greatexperience andI learned a lotfrom Feller,Ron said.

At that timeRon had al-ready receivedhis auctioneerslicense and hadexperience in

    livestock auc-tions.

    Best is to Come as AuctionGreersAnnounce P l a n s F o r Q u a r t e r l yCla ssi c Car Consignment Auctions

How many times have you been flippingthrough the channels on the tube whenyou noticed one of the car auctions being

    broadcast?

Maybe you are an avid collector. Maybeyou have your own sweet ride parked in aspotless garage and you are a fan. Or,maybe you are like a lot of people whowatch and wish they could have a beauti-ful classic of their very own.

Whatever the case, classic, antique or just

really hot, cars have always made us stopand stare when they drive by. I think it isa gene that is

passed on at birth to manyof us, we loveautomobiles! The love af-fair with pol-ished steel, chrome andsmoking tiresis well docu-

mented in thiscountry andthis desire toown, restoreand enjoythese Detroit

beauties is evident by the dozens of car shows that happen around the state everyweek.

If you want to get into this exciting hobbyand a trip to Arizona to dump your entirefinanial portfolio is not in your retirement

plans, you can get started right here in Nashville.

Our Classic Car and Collectors auctionis designed to cater to both the hobbyistand the addicted car enthusiast said auc-tioneer Eddie Greer. Eddie Greer andMelanie Eifling make up the auction teamknown as The AuctionGreers. This auc-tion duo just concluded the second annualClassic Car and Collectors Auction heldat Auction Way in Nashville. The event is

sponsored by Bill Colson Auction andRealty at their auction facility on AuctionWay, just off of Dickerson Rd.

Our second auction grew from 17 con-

tremely important and we at Ron GregoryRealty and Auctions have learned in our years of doing business exactly how touse all means of advertising to the advan-tage of our customers.

Ron contributes much of the success RonGregory Realty and Auction, to maintain-ing a new level of professionalism and in-tegrity through principles of honesty, transparency and accessibility for hisclients.

Our clients have given us high marksand we work very hard to live up to theseexpectations.

signments to better than 40. The qualityof automobiles in this sale improvedvastly. We put in a lot of hard work to

bring in new buyers for the second sale, said Melanie Eifling. We had, on site,

buyers registered from Ohio, Alabama,Tennessee, Mississippi, Kentucky, and,Missouri and with the auction beingsimulcast via Proxibid, buyers were reg-istered form all over the world.

The good news doesn't stop there. Word

is getting out that this is a great venue tosell and with interest growing, the Auc-tionGreers are planning more auctions,

and more frequently. The next auction is planned for October of this year and plans to make it even better are in theworks.

We hope to stream live video from theupcoming October Auction. This willallow the internet buyers an opportunityto see the car as it enters the lane for auc-tion, Melanie went on to say.

At the recent auction, there were more

Ron Gregory selling horses at MaconCo. Livestock Market, 1985

From mules to mansions, Ron Gregory now specializes in all types of realestate auctions. This Goodlettsville home sold for $565,000.

That explains why one of his most usefultools in physically preparing for large landauctions is his trusted mule, Cool HandLuke.

We put a lot of effort into preparing for any auction we do, Ron said. Land auc-tions require a lot of prep work prior tothe sale date. Soil scientist, surveyors, clean up crews and more all come to-gether to make our auctions successfull. After the surveyor lays the boundary of the property we are selling, me and CoolHand Luke physically ride the boundaryto view the topography and lay of the landto establish how to multiply the propertyand bring the highest dollar for our clients.

Advertising is a key ingredient in the prep work and the success of any auc-tion, Ron went on to say. We have yearsof experience in the types of advertisingthat works best for whatever auction weare working on.

It gives you the assurance that the prop-erty will be sold at true market value byExposing the property to a large number of pre-qualified prospects.

Absolute, accelerates the sale and createscompetition among buyers leading to anauction price that can exceed the price of a negotiated sale. It requires potential

Larger Faci l i ty Offers Many NewPossibilities for Music City Auction

They are exciting changes in the MiddleTennessee auction community. MusicCity Auction has settled into a large facil-ity located in downtown Nashville. 114George L. Davis Blvd, located on thefrontage road of I-40 between Broadwayand Church Street, has long been home tothe offices of the auction firm. And, peri-odically, MCA has held auctions in the15,000 sq. ft. warehouse.

Up until recently, the space had beenrented and used as both an antique malland occasional auction facility. With theloss of the tenants lease, auctioneer DavidAllen made the decision to dedicate a large

portion of the space as a permanent auc-tion site. While one side of the buildingwill continue to house a thriving antiquemall, the other side, approximately 7,000sq. ft., will be dedicated exclusively toauctions.

Mr. Allen anticipates immediate benefits. In the past, it was necessary to work around the schedule of the tenant, as thespace was often used as storage for themall. With the decision to take over thespace in a permanent sense, it will allowus a greater flexibility to conduct auctions. In the beginning, our goal is to have a leasttwo a month.

One of the ideas that can now be realizedis a Shipshewana style auction on a pe-riodic basis. Mr. Allen explains, In Ship-shewana, IN there is an auction event thatoccurs at least once a month, where a largefacility is divided up into booth space andrented to sellers of merchandise, much likea flea market.

However, instead of pricing each item for sale to the public, an auctioneer stands inthe booth and sells everything in lots to thehighest bidder(s). When that booth isempty, theauctioneer moves tothe next

booth, andso on, untilall of themerchan -dise is sold.

    B e c a u s ethey havesuch a largef a c i l i t y ,often multi-

ple auction-eers are selling at the same time indifferent booths. I dont see us at that stagein the near future, but you can envision the

possibilities.Music City Auctions are a real treat to at-tend. You can count on finding a lot of very unique and unusual items from an-tique to eclectic. The one thing that youwill always find is a great atmosphere anda good time.

Now that David Allen has all of this newspace to work with, we can expect to seesome really big things coming out of TheMusic City...Auction that is.

Look for an advertisement for a Labor Day Weekend 2-day auction in the newlyre-vamped building in the next issue of
