Northwest Chapter ATHS

Membership Meeting

November 10, 2012

Walrath Trucking Tacoma, WA

Call to Order: President Roy called the meeting to or-

der at 1:06 P.M. and announced that 25 antique trucks

were displayed today.

Introductions: We introduced ourselves and the shop-

per’s column was passed around.

Minutes: The minutes for the September 9, 2012

meeting were published in the newsletter. Additions or

corrections were called for. None were noted so the

minutes stand approved as published.

Treasure Report: Treasurer, John Nichols, reported

that we had about $3000

Communications: President Roy reported on the com-

munications he gets from National. Besides the normal

communications National ATHS is starting a fund rais-

ing brick drive. The bricks will be placed at the Na-

tional Headquarters and are available in the following

sizes: 6”x6” at $150, 6”x9” at $250, 6”x12” at $500

and 12”x12” at $1000.

There will be an article and pictures in the next Wheels

of Time about Vic Anderson receiving the Golden

Achievement award. He was presented the award dur-

ing our April meeting at LeMay’s Marymount facility.

National ATHS dues will increase $3 next year.

Old Business: none

New Business: President Roy selected a nominating

committee for next-years officers. They are Pat Neu-

roth, Mike Scott, and Art Watkins. Art Watkins was

selected to be chairman.

Judy Watkins made a plea for more members to volun-

teer to do things for the club.

Al Downs volunteered to do an on-line spread sheet of

club members.

Our annual truck show has now been moved to the 2nd

weekend in August and will be held at the Scottish-

Rite, Shriner’s site in Tacoma. This year there will be

a $5 entrance fee, with children under 12 admitted free,

and a $10 registration fee. Once again you can bring as

many trucks as you want for no additional fee.

President Roy announced that he had attended the fu-

nerals of two of our members, Bill Foley and Jeff

Shaver.

Next Meeting: February 16, 2013 at the Puyallup Ea-

gle’s Hall.,

With no further business the meeting was adjourned

1:39 PM

Respectfully submitted,

John A. Brown, secretary

NOMINATING COMMITTEE REPORT The Nominating Committee chaired by Board Mem-

ber Art Watkins has reported that the following have

accepted the nomination for the positions as listed:

PRESIDENT: Jack Davis (currently Vice President)

VICE PRESIDENT: Dave Wester

SECRETARY: Al Downs

TREASURER: John Nichols (currently Treasurer)

BOARD MEMBERS: Art Watkins and Pat Neuroth

(both currently Board Members who’s terms expire at

the February 2013 Annual Meeting)

PRESIDENTS REPORT It has been a “long ride” and most of it rather

smooth—a few bumps along the way but fortunately

no chuck holes. That is certainly due to the great co-

operation I have had from the Officers, Board and you,

the Northwest Chapter Members!!!

I can still remember the evening on February 25,

1995 at our winter Northwest Chapter meeting at Pe-

derson’s Petroleum Museum in Seattle. It was an eve-

ning dinner meeting. Jeanette and I entered the old

automobile dealership building from the alley, walked

up the board ramp to the second floor and was greeted

by a “call” and motion from Jerry Noordman that he

wanted to talk to me. He informed me that Bob

Brown had been our President since 1983 (I knew that

since Jeanette & I had attended the 3rd Chapter Meet-

ing on January 28, 1984) and wanted to give up the

“job”. “Would I be President”, he asked. Jeanette & I

talked about it and I said, yes. I was elected and ap-

pointed/selected a Board of Directors that night. We

subsequently generated By-Laws for the Chapter

which were adopted on April 26, 1996—one of the

first ATHS Chapters to adopt ByLaws. (see page 3)

Another thing happened at that February 1995 meeting

that I won’t forget—Tom Krajieck was new to the

Northwest having moved here from New York. He

wondered why we didn’t have a Chapter Truck Show

since the Chapter back there had one. That started the

wheels turning for our 1st Chapter Truck Show held

at Stroh’s Feed property in Gig Harbor on July 9 &

10, 1996. (continued on page 8)
