the area you intend to instruct (i.e., if wanting to instruct the Certified Medical Investigator program, you must be a CMI-V)

Instructor Guidelines Instructors must be Subject Matter Experts

in the field of the certification being offered.For example, a CI must be a CPA, have

achieved the Cr.FA, and be at least a Diplomate in order to instruct a Cr.FA course

Instructors must be excellent communicators, able to successfully keep the attention of the class, and present the course information in a way that better prepares attendees for the credentialing exam.

Maintaining Your CI

CI’s must continue their ACFEI membership and certification in order to maintain the Certified Instructor credential.

To ensure quality control, the ACFEI will conduct an ongoing review of instructors which may include, but is not limited to, an on-site audit.

Maintaining Your CI All students will be required to complete a

confidential survey evaluating the instructor’s performance.

If the instructor’s overall class evaluation falls below average, the ACFEI holds the right to revoke his or her instructor privileges. Recommendations will first be provided on ways the CI can improve their results.

The annual dues to maintain a CI is $250, in addition to other membership and credential fees.

CI Levels Instructor—beginning level for all CI’s Senior Instructor—Achieved once the ACFEI has

received 100 above-average student evaluations and/or upon recommendation of ACFEI staff; instructors that can provide 100 evaluations by students they taught in other programs may be substituted as well as long as they are within the past 5 years

Master Instructor—achieved once a Senior Instructor has served 5 years and taught at least 2 classes for each of those years; 5 years experience in an education setting may be substituted for the requirement

CI Status

A CI is not an employee of the ACFEI. A CI is an independent contractor and

will be issued a 1099 Form at the end of each reporting year.

A CI is not entitled to any employee benefits or insurance from the ACFEI.

The views stated or expressed by a CI are not endorsed and may not accurately reflect the views of the ACFEI.

The ACFEI is not liable for any injuries acquired by a CI or student obtained during a live training session.

The ACFEI does not provide insurance coverage for non-ACFEI sponsored programs or events.

Guarantees

The ACFEI does not guarantee any amount of money to a CI; it is dependent on his or her drive to obtain and enroll students in the classroom for the certification.

CI’s are not permitted to make statements to the media on behalf of the ACFEI.

Any published material regarding the ACFEI must be submitted to our media affairs department prior to being published.

Ownership of Course Material

The ACFEI is the sole owner of all course materials for any of its certification programs or published works. Unauthorized use, duplication, or distribution of provided materials by instructors is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate termination of their CI status and possible legal action may be required.

ACFEI Seminars ACFEI may sponsor seminars throughout the

year for in person certification review courses An ACFEI appointed representative will be

onsite to oversee last minute registration, student evaluations, and proctoring exams

CI’s at the initial level will be eligible to teach at the seminars

Invitation to teach is extended first to CI’s closest to the seminar’s location

Seminars will be held at different locations in the country each time based on need

ACFEI Seminars cost an additional $200 over the regular certification fee

CI’s will receive $100 for each attendee in their class at an ACFEI seminar

The additional $100 goes to cover travel expenses for CI and ACFEI

Instructor checks will be issued by the ACFEI within 30 days following the completion of the seminar

CI’s are primarily responsible for recruiting attendees for their seminars

ACFEI may refer CI’s individuals that want in person instruction in their area

CI’s are expected to send all applications to ACFEI for processing and payment collection and are never to collect payment or credit card information

CI Seminar Exams

When registration for each training session is complete, the ACFEI Headquarters will send out the exact number of exams per student(s) registered

Each exam must be present and accounted for when returned back to Headquarters in order for all examinees to get their certificate issued promptly and correctly

Examinations

The certification candidates participate in courses to supplement their education; multiple choice examinations are used to evaluate the learning which takes place.

Exams may only be taken in person or online

Examinations

If the CI fails to adequately cover the course material during the training course, students will most likely not fair well on the exam.

In addition, reading the exam questions and answers to students is prohibited as their actual knowledge in the field will not be assessed properly.

In-Person Examination Rules

Instructors will be provided registration lists and various forms related to class attendance. The exam is NOT an open book exam All examinees must show identification and sign in

prior to entering the examination room No electronic devices will be permitted to be out

during the exam (including cell phones) No talking during the exam No one is allowed to leave the testing area with a

copy of the test No more than two people may leaving the testing

room at one time

In-Person Examination Rules

Four-hour time limit on every ACFEI exam Anyone caught cheating will be asked to leave

the class without refund and will be revoked of membership and any credentials the student may hold with the association

Students are afforded two opportunities to retake an ACFEI exam; however, a $100 retake fee does apply. Exam retakes or make-up’s will be given online by ACFEI Headquarters or may be taken in person if the instructor is availible

In-Person Examination Rules

Examinees may not begin the exam until directed by the instructor.

Examinees must sign in and out if a break is needed. Students may not take anything out of the room with them. They must leave the exam with the instructor.

Upon completion, the student will turn the exam into the instructor and sign out.

Please ensure all students have written their full name on their exam.

Instructor Evaluations

Instructor evaluations will be mandatory for each student

Evaluations are anonymous—students should not provide their name

A pre-paid envelope will accompany each evaluation; students should place their evaluation in the envelope and seal it prior to returning to the instructor

Instructor Evaluations

All sealed, returned evaluations should be mailed to the ACFEI Headquarters, along with the completed tests for processing and filing.

ACFEI will provide a FedEx number for shipping exams back and to ensure tracking

Any attempt by instructors to alter evaluations will result in the immediate termination of their CI title.

Instructor Evaluations Students will be asked to rate your performance

as an instructor in several areas; the rating scale ranges from unsatisfactory to excellent.

If your cumulative average over a six-month period of instructor evaluations falls to below average, a representative from the ACFEI will contact you to develop a plan of action.

ACFEI reserves the right to suspend or withdraw a CI’s status due to concerning or negative feedback prior to the six month period.
