Come join the second annual Altrusa International of Cowlitz County Spelle-bration Adult Spelling Bee. This event will enable Altrusa to continue providing help for The Emergency Support Shelter, scholarships, and local literacy programs.

Bring your family and supporters. All team members must be 21 or older, but everyone is welcome to enjoy the fun and participate in the audience.

Words will be selected from the Merriam Webster Collegiate Dictionary and region-al maps. The enunciator will pronounce the word, give its meaning and use it in a sample sentence. Your team will have 15 seconds to correctly record your answer on a white board, which will be verified by the judges.

You are encouraged to get sponsors for your “Word Mulligans” and your entry fee. Please turn in funds prior to the event by March 1st. No refunds will be given for unused “Word Mulligans”.

A perpetual trophy will be awarded to the first place team. “Bragging Rights” are attached for 1 year then it will be re-awarded next year! Prizes will also be awarded to 1st and 2nd place team, team with best costumes, team with the best (or loudest) supporters, most creative speller and any other prizes at the discretion of the judges and Altrusa of Cowlitz County, “The Breakfast Bunch”.

• Donate money to sponsor the team - maybe that is where you get team name

• Make costumes - maybe win a prize. Costumes are not mandatory! Fun is!

• Encourage supporters to come out and cheer you on. An $8 cover charge from non-spellers includes a slice of pizza.

• Purchase “Word Mulligans” - there will a limited number available at $20 each, on a first-come first-sale basis.

• Appoint a drone to “bee” your runner - bring you refreshments, lead your cheering squad, etc.
