Although still a new idea in the UK – Academies in Europe are popular
and a great way of putting a set training program into place for long
term success.
Having seen in Switzerland how young riders thrive and progress in
this type of environment, the JB Academy was developed for riders of
all ages, who wanted to succeed in the world of show jumping. The JB
Academy, now looking to its sixth year, has seen great competitive
results as well as riders enjoying the great atmosphere and
camaraderie that comes with a group striving for the same goal. The
JB Academy now offers three sections; JB Academy for riders aged 9 –
26, JB Seniors for riders over 26 years old, and now the JB Grassroots
for riders under 9 years old, offering the younger riders a training
platform to prepare them for their future in the JB Academy.
A maximum of 50 riders will be selected for the 2019/2020 season. The JB Academy will run for a 12 month period, starting 1st November each year. Riders will join by completing the application form, and submitting the annual fee of £285
Each member of this elite academy will receive
12 training sessions held each month in a selection of venues withexcellent facilities
6 sessions will include a video diary of the session
Branded riding clothing and numnah
6 videos of how to set up training exercises
Nutritional support for your horse from NAF
Feeding advice specific to you from Dodson & Horrell Exclusive discount card for use at Sydney Free and Wessex Equine
Vets
Regular class room style sessions using DVD footage and trainingdiagrams
Annual awards ball
One to one guidance in setting objectives, classes andcompetitions
Coaching at competitions, course walk, warm up and review
Support for parents – how and when to do exercises at home
Trips to National and International competitions (additional cost)
Access to the exclusive three day residential camp (additionalcost)

JB Academy Code of Conduct
Please read this carefully and sign at the bottom. As a JB Academy member, you represent the values and integrity of the JB Academy and your conduct should reflect this, at shows, at training and any time you are wearing your JB Academy kit.
You are expected to follow the principles of sportsmanship at all time and act in a professional manner. Any unsportsmanlike behaviour or unprofessional conduct at shows or at training will result in disciplinary action, at Johnathan’s discretion.
1. Your tack and equipment must be well-fitting and safe. Further guidance can befound in the BHS handbooks, or ask Johnathan. Any equipment, even if advised byJohnathan, is used at your own risk.
2. Helmets and other safety equipment must adhere to the standards used in Affiliatedcompetition (BSI Kitemarked, SEI ASTM F1163 04a onwards and SNELL E2001). Youare strongly recommended to replace your hat if damaged or following a fall.
3. If you choose to leave the JB Academy, you may not use your JB Academy brandedsaddlecloth in competition, though you are welcome to use it at home.
4. Any additional horse wear or sponsored kit (i.e. rugs) given to you as a JB Academymember remain the property of the JB Academy and must be returned if you leavethe Academy or following any breaches of this code of conduct.
