Company historyMore than 40 years of being active in the sector makes Alonso Mercader a reference in technical fabrics, upholstery, decoration, footwear and other productions, with a variety of fabrics destined to domestic, nautical, automotive, industrial and contract sectors (hotels, residencies, hospitals, geriatrics…).

Sueder, Ecosued, Vinci, Pieltech, Elite, Evolve, Diamond, Star, Acualis… are some of our best selling products due to their quality, colourfulness, and technology.

Sueds, polyurethane, PVC, polyester, cotton y natural leather shape the materials used in our collections, combined with finishing’s such as, fire-retardant, waterproof, isolation, odour absorbing, antibacterial, stain resistant, foscurit…

Our R&D department researches and develops new products, which keeps Alonso Mercader thriving to stay one step beyond the market tendencies. Therefore, enabling us to provide our costumers with the latest novelty, which are periodically presented in national and international fairs: FIM (Valencia); Decosit (Brussels); Index (Dubai); Heimtextil (Frankfurt).

Our factory is located 20 km around Barcelona where a staff of more than 50 employers (production, commercial and final test departments) work to guarantee the high quality of our products.

2. Distribution:The products of Alonso Mercader are distributed both on the national and international level, international representing over 60% of the company’s income. We are present in different countries of Europe (Spain, Portugal, England, France, the Netherlands, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Poland, Chec Republic), middle East (Dubai, Abu Dhabi), America (USA, Canada, Mexico, South America, Columbia, Peru, Chile), Asia (India, Hong Kong), Africa (Morocco, Tunisia, South Africa).

3. Our brands

Alonso Mercader is characterized by having a variety of products and over 1.000 combinations between them which allow us to satisfy the needs of each and every of our clients


3.1- Sueds:

The name micro fibre refers to those fabric articles, with a weft or a warp of polyester micro fibre of the finest diameter (0,2 deniers) and a high price of construction, which remind of “petals of rose” when they once are woven and grind, because of their special touch. This touch with silicon offers an aspect of turned leather. Our micro fibres offer all the finishing’s that any client could want for his upholstering:Flameproof, foam, resistance of stains, resistance bacteriological, etc.

3.2- PU AND PVC COVERING: These articles are the kings of the installations, airports, public services, movie theatres, theatres, offices, etc. Their big resistance, easy cleaning and colours offer qualities out of all doubt.Technically they base on covering the textile base with polyurethane or PVC. Thanks for their floating structure our products have got a resistance that has not been known before in these kind of products >50.000 cycles Martindale and a touch of full ground leather inimitable with a technical behaviour unequalled.

3.3- LOREA-NATURE-CONTRACT:


Our leathers are selected between of those of the best quality and size that you can find in the European market. They are hardened following rigorous levels of control with processes that conserve their naturalness achieving the UNE_EN ISO 9001/2000 y UNE-ISO/TS 16949 certificates. Our leathers are not artificially engraved and they offer exceptional technical characteristics like high solidity to light, thickness, and adherence, high resistance of tearing, elasticity and uniformity.

You can find the following finishing’s: 3.3.1: LOREAWe can find two kind of finishing’s, FLOR with light protecting finishing and ANILINA with aniline finishing.

3.3.2: NATUREThey are waxed full ground leathers; between them we can find ANTIC and PADOCK. Also to this category belongs RETAN with vegetable finishing and BRAVO with a shine effect of the classical leathers.

3.3.3: CONTRACTFinally we find the leather AUTO, especial leathers for transportation and cars and the leather IGNIS, a special flameproof version for aviation, theatres and catering business, that fulfil the normative FAR 25853 (a), 12 second VFTR and M2.

3.4- FINISHINGS:3.4.1: Tecnocoat: our textile fire-retardant process is based on high technology:

- Firex RS: Fire retardant system by PU covering. Soft touch Breathable. Antibacterial (optional). Fire retardant according to these certificates: UNE 23.727:M1- BS 5852: CRIB 5-IMO (A.652)- UNE 1021:1 and 2 Parts.

- Firex SP: Fire retardant system by transferable backing. High strength Resistance. Dimensional stability. Antibacterial (optional). Fire retardant according to these certificates: BS 5852: CRIB 5-UNE 1021:1 and 2 Parts.


- Firex IP: Fire retardant system by PU covering. Waterproof 1 m/cm2. Antibacterial (optional) pleasant to the touch. Fire retardant according to these certificates: UNE 23.727: M1-BS 5852: CRIB 5-IMO (A.652)-UNE 1021:1 and 2 Parts

-Firex FS: Fire retardant system by PU covering. Black out. Breathable waterproof 1 m/cm2. Antibacterial (optional) pleasant to the touch . Very new Fire retardant according to these certificates: UNE 23.727: M1-BS 5852: CRIB 5-IMO (A.652)-UNE 1021:1 and 2 Parts

3.4.2: Odox: Multi-Functional active carbon system. Bad smell absorbing. Waterproof, Breathability, Anti-bacteria


3.4.3: Isoclime: PCM Membrane (phase change material). Poliurethane membrana with embeded microcapsules.Body temperature regulate. Waterproof, Breathability.

4. I+D

Our I+D department, not only works on the development of new products and finishing’s to create our own articles, but we also interact with our customers answering to the high demand and requirements that the technical upholstery world suggests.

We offer treatments like Fire-retardant, waterproof, antibacterial, isolation, odour absorbing, etc through the benefits of polyurethane covering.

Through specific systems we offer engravings, printings, laser treatment, perforations, pleats, transfer, rollings, foam backings, nanotechnology (easy care), etc..

So, our catalogue keeps growing periodically with new fabrics as well as in standard material.
