The Medal Finals are open to any Jr/Am rider who has won a first or second place or accrued 6 points in a qualifying class from July 2019 to July of 2020. The finals

will be a three round competition.

Scores from the three rounds will be added together and in case of any ties, judges may ask for a work–off. The three rounds will be held over increasingly difficult courses with additional tests included in the course. The fences will be 2'9" over

hunter or jumper type fences and courses.

Awards will be presented through 10th place. Champion receives a $1000 shopping Certificate to Tack Warehouse. 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th place each win a free stall at

the Fall Finale.7th, 8th & 9th place each win a free stall at the Fall Festival. 10th place wins a free stall at the Halloween Championship. Reserve Champion receives

a $500 shopping certificate to Tack Warehouse.

In all Jumper classes, ties involving 1st place will jump off. Ties not involving 1st place will be broken by the fastest time in the first round. Jumping orders will be drawn and posted in accordance with USEF rules. Argentine

Jumpers: Speed portion of course wheeled at 382 yds/min to establish optimum time. Winning entry is the round with the least amount of faults, closest to the optimum time either over or under that time. Time faults are not

assessed. For purpose of clarification, each jumper division has been assigned a specific height level. Within each level, at least 5% of the jumps will be set at the maximum height specified.

FEDERATION ENTRY AGREEMENTBy entering a Federation-licensed Competition and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Driver, Rider, Handler, Vaulter or Longeur and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the Bylaws and Rules of The United States Equestrian Federation, Inc. (the “Federation”) and the local rules of Almaden Farms & Brookside Equestrian Park (Competition). I agree to be bound by the Bylaws and Rules of the Federation and of the competition. I will accept as final the decision of the Hearing Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, the Federation, their officials, directors and employees for any action taken under the Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, the Federation and/or the Competition may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cable - casts, broadcasts, internet, film, new media or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competition, sport, or the Federation. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize amateur status. ALMADEN JUNIOR & SENIOR: Open to Junior and Amateur riders. The class may be held over hunter or jumper type fences at 2’9 in height. Three riders must enter for the class to count. Any rider showing in classes with fences over 3’3 in height at the same show may not show in this medal. The course must include, two changes of direction and two tests built into the course, ie: trot, halt, back, etc. Additional testing is at the judges discretion. First and second place qualify for the finals.

THE CLOVERLEAF EQUITATION CLASSIC: Class is open to Junior & Amateur riders not showing in any classes over 3’7 in height. To be judged over a Jumper course of not less than 9 fences at 3’ in height. To be judged on hands, seat, guidance & control of the horse on a Jumper type of ride. There will not be a time allowed. Any Jumper type bit or equipment is allowed. Jumping penalties will be considered in accordance with USEF Equitation rules. Additional work–offs after the initial round will be at the Judge’s discretion, and any number of riders may be asked to test. At least 3 riders must enter & show in the class. First & second place winners will be qualified for the finals. Winner of the finals will receive a Golf Cart. Prizes to 10th place.

HORSE & HOUND JR/AM MEDAL: Open to all junior and amateur riders who have not competed in a 3’6 medal finals in the previous 3 years and who are not showing 3’6 or higher at this show. To be shown over a hunter or jumper course of 3’ fences with 2 tests included. 5 riders fill. Points awarded 7–5–4–3–2–1. If only 4 finish, points will be awarded 5–3–2–1. 5 points qualifies for the finals in Oct. Classes with 15 or more entries will be pointed 10–8–7–6–5–4–3–2.

HORSE & HOUND PONY MEDAL: To be shown over a course of fences (Sm/Med to jump 2’, Lg to jump 2’6) with 2 tests included. Points and qualifying same as the Horse & Hound Jr/Am Medal.

JRW JUNIOR/AMATEUR: To be shown over a course of Hunter/Jumper type fences approx. 3’3, with flat work incorporated into the course. NO work–off is required, but further testing is at the judge’s discretion. Points awarded to the top 8 riders (8–7–6–5–4–3–2–1) points will be doubled in classes with 15 or more. Six points required to qualify a rider for Finals. Five riders must complete the course.

NORCAL JUNIOR & SENIOR: Open only to members of NorCal. Trainers of competitors must also be members. Not less than 8 fences at 3’6 either

hunter or jumper type. Additional testing of at least 4 riders after the initial round required. Jr medal (3) must complete for points to count and Sr. medal all riders completing the course will qualify for the finals.

NORCAL 3 FT JR./AM. MEDAL: May be offered in the Hunter or Jumper ring. This class is open to all junior and amateur members of NorCal who have not shown in any classes higher than 3’3 in the qualifying year. Trainers of contestants must also be members. Same specifications as the junior and senior medals, with the exception that fences shall be 3’. Work–off of the top 4 riders is mandatory. Points awarded the same as for junior and senior medals, 7 points needed to qualify for the finals. Winners may continue to compete in the class throughout the year. Any NorCal Medal class with more than 20 contestants will be pointed through 8th place as follows: 10–8–7–6–5–4–3–2.

NORCAL PONY EQUITATION MEDAL CLASS: Open to current junior members of the NorCal Hunter Jumper Association. Trainers of contestants must also be members of NorCal. No junior over 12 years may compete on a small pony, and no junior over 14 years may compete on a medium pony. Riders in this class may not enter a NorCal Junior Medal class at the same show. Fence heights will be according to USEF specifications for small, medium and large ponies. Course will incorporate a work–off of at least two tests. Two riders must complete the course. One rider per pony.

PCHA HORSEMANSHIP 14/UNDER, 18 TO 34 & 35/OVER: This class is designed as an intermediate equitation class for riders 14 years of age and under who are current PCHA members. A rider who will not be 14 years old (horse show age) or under on the date of the Finals may not compete in the class. To be held over a course of at least eight (8) fences about 3’3 in height. Hunter–type fences are encouraged. One combination must be included and at least two changes of direction with two tests included as part of the original course. No workoff is required; but further testing is at the judges discretion. To fill a class, three competitors must complete the course. Riders may qualify by achieving the necessary 12 points or by winning a class of five or more entries. Qualified riders will receive a medal. Regardless of how many points he/she accumulates, a rider can continue to compete in qualifying classes until he/she has won a class of five or more entries.

PCHA JR/AM: Fences 2’9. May not be showing at 3’3 or higher during the current show year. 8 fences required, test in course. Finals for this class will be held at the Halloween Championship Show.

USEF/DOVER SADDLERY JUNIOR MEDAL CLASS: Open to junior members of USEF. Fences 3’6. Two or more tests of top 4 required. For class to count, 3 riders must complete the course.

USEF ADULT EQUITATION CLASS: Open to Amateur Senior Members of the USEF. To be shown over a course of not less than eight obstacles at 3’3. Two or more tests of the top four competitors are required. To fill a class 3 competitors must complete the course. Only one rider per horse.

ENTRY PROCEDUREENTRY BLANKS: Care should be taken to enter each horse in its proper division or class. Exhibitors are responsible for their errors and those of their agents in making out entry blanks. In all cases the description on the entry blank must fully identify the horse.1. The following fees for each horse must accompany the completed entry form. a. $275 each for all stall and tack rooms.2. The entry form for the show must be complete and must: a. Be properly signed, and in the case of a minor, be signed by a parent or guardian. b. Show the correct mailing address of the owner. c. Social Security number must be included on entry blank. d. Include copy of USEF membership card or signed affidavit. e. Include PCHA membership numbers. f. Include all additional membership numbers and birth dates of junior and amateur riders. Please attach photocopy of USEF amateur card. g. Please attach photocopy of USEF pony measurement card for any ponies entered in the pony division.

Entries should be sent to the address shown on the entry blank. Checks made payable to Almaden Farms. Numbers WILL NOT be issued without a SIGNED OPEN CHECK lodged with the Horse Show Secretary. Bring a check for the remainder of your entries to the show.

POST ENTRIES: Any entry postmarked after June 26, 2020, is considered a post entry and will pay a $25 late fee. A $5 post entry fee is charged for all classes added the same day. Management reserves the right to limit entries at its discretion.

REFUNDS: All refund request must be submitted in writing.1. Before close of entries all fees will be refunded.2. After the closing date of entries, no refunds will be given unless you meet one of the following requirements: a. Prior to start of show, entry fees will be refunded less the stall fee and nominating/schooling fee. b. After the show starts, classes that are scratched in the Horse Show Office the day of the class will receive credit to be used against any adds after your number is picked up. c. After the show starts, if a competitor is ill or injured and can not compete in the balance of the division/class(es), that competitor will be entitled to a refund of unused class fees provided the division/class(es) are officially scratched with 48 hours, and a doctor’s certificate is provided to the Horse Show Office. Stall and nominating fees are not required to be refunded. d. After the show starts, if a horse is ill or injured and classes are officially scratched the same day they are scheduled will receive a full refund with an official veterinarian certificate provided the Horse Show Office receives it within 48 hours. e. No requests for refunds will be accepted after the close of the show with exception to a competitor/ horse illness or injury and we receive the request within 48 hours of the completion of the show.

RULES & GENERAL INFORMATIONMEMBERSHIP STATEMENT: Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $45 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.COMPETITION MANAGEMENT: Almaden Farms CEO: Bud Thoman. MANAGEMENT: The Horse Show Management reserves the right to itself to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to, or arising out of, or incident to the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in these Rules and Regulations shall be decided by the horse show management; its decision to be final.CONDITION OF ENTRY: Every horse entered herein for competition will be under the control of the Horse Show Management, but show management will, in no case, be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the individual horse show and the officials, employees, directors, officers, sponsoring entities, Brookside Equestrian Park and its employees, directors, officers, sponsoring entities of each horse show and the facilities at which each horse show is held blameless for any loss or accident to his horse(s), employees(s), or equipment which may occur from sickness, fire or other cause. All owners and exhibitors shall be responsible for any damage incurred by them, their agents or employees to stalls, buildings, and other properties on the show grounds, and shall be billed accordingly.RESPONSIBILITY: The Horse Show Management reserves the right to itself to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify any riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries, and cancel award prizes, without claim for damages; to change any course, to cancel or combine any unfilled classes (5 entries to fill a class), or to reschedule classes as competition warrants.NON NEGOTIABLE CHECKS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason are regarded as a most serious offense and will be handled as follows: ALL RETURNED CHECKS WILL BE CHARGED AN ADDITIONAL 10% PENALTY ($25) MINIMUM. Accounts will be given 10 days to be paid in full with cash or money order,

or they will be turned in to the sanctioning organizations for further disciplinary action.UNPAID CHARGES: If the show management or show official must bill an exhibitor for unpaid charges a $25 billing fee will be added to the amount due.STABLING: Stalls and tack rooms will be available for $275. Stalls are of permanent, 12’ x 12’ with doors, or portable construction.. Request for stalls for horses not entered in the show or for tack, feed or grooming may be reduced by management & refunds given, if there is a shortage of stalls. If you require early stabling, please call Nancy Gannon @ 916-813-6214 and pay a fee of $10 per day. A Non–Stabling fee of $50 per day will be charged for all horses entered to show who have not purchased a stall, to offset facility costs. MINOR EXHIBITORS: Parent(s) or guardian(s) of minor exhibitors shall hold the Horse Show Management and facility harmless for any injury to such minor. No child’s entry will be accepted or number issued unless the entry is signed by a parent or guardian.PRIZES: Awards to 1st place in all classes, ribbons 1st–8th. Classes with prize money will be paid through 5th place. Prize money will be made payable to the owner listed on the entry blank (unless other arrangements are made with the Horse Show Office) and mailed within 30 days. NO PRIZE MONEY WILL BE PAID UNLESS OWNERS SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER IS LISTED ON THE ENTRY BLANK. In all classes with add–back, prize money is computed from the number of horses that actually show. Horses entered but not showing will forfeit their add–back money to Management unless they scratch before the class.DOGS: Per USEF Rules, all dogs must be restrained at all times while on the show grounds. Unrestrained dogs create a serious safety hazard to exhibitors and their horses. Therefore, NONCOMPLIANCE WITH THE RESTRAINT RULE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.NON–SHOWING HORSES: For any horse on the grounds and not officially entered, owner or trainer of said horse must complete a “Not to Show” form, sign a release at the Horse Show Office, and pay a $50 facility fee plus a $40 schooling/reservation fee.PROTECTIVE HEADGEAR AND ATTIRE: USEF Article GR318 will be strictly enforced. All riders in hunter, hunter seat Equitation and Jumper Classes where jumping is required and while jumping on competition grounds must wear ASTM/SEI approved helmets. All exhibitors are required to wear shoes or boots with a riding heel whenever mounted on horseback on the grounds.PARKING: Fire regulations prohibit all vehicles, including cars, trailers, vans and campers, from being parked in the stable areas. Vans and trailers will be allowed in the stable area only to load or off–load. PARKING AREAS WILL BE DESIGNATED AND VIOLATORS WILL BE TOWED AWAY AT THE OWNER’S EXPENSE.TIME SCHEDULE/POSTED ORDER: Time schedules will be available the day previous to the classes. This time schedule and/or posted orders will be strictly adhered to. The trainer, exhibitor or other representative must

tell the paddock steward of possible ring conflicts so that arrangements can be made to accommodate the rider as well as the time schedule. Order of go will be drawn according to USEF Article 2713.5.COURSES: Courses may consist of any combination of the following: brush, gate, oxers, panels, post and rails, coops and walls. The horse show management reserves the right to adjust fence heights or spreads in jumper classes as competition warrants.POLING: Not allowed in California. FEED AND BEDDING: Exhibitors are responsible for ordering all of their own feed and bedding from Brookside at 916-682-1403. Exhibitors are also responsible for making all payment for feed and bedding directly to the feed and bedding supplier. MEDICAL WASTE: Sharps must be placed in the proper receptacles. Anyone found in violation shall be subject to a fine or other penalties deemed necessary by show management.MOTOR HOMES: Motor home on–site spaces include water, electrical hookups. No waste hookup. Spaces will be available for $300 for the duration of the show FOR USE IN ANY MANNER. MOTOR HOMES must have a pass displayed in an easily visible place. Those not displaying the proper pass will be charged double the space fee. Space reservations should be included with your entries. Special arrangements must be made for extra days at $40 per day.MOTORIZED VEHICLES In accordance with GR1301.7: Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized

vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles, on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or a guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses, or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. ARENAS: All arenas are sand. Main ~250’ x 125’. Ring 2 ~150 x 125. Ring 3 ~150 x 125.
