Day 5 - IGUAÇU FALLS / IGUAZU FALLS (ARGENTINA) / BUENOS AIRES Travel to the Argentinian side of the falls this morning and board a train to view the unforgettable Devil’s Throat. This long, narrow chasm channels nearly half of the river’s flow, creating a deafening roar and veils of mist. Continue over catwalks, boardwalks, and forest trails for the chance to walk along the edge and even above some of the many falls. The falls create their own mini-rainforest climate, and you will find tropical growth of bamboo, orchids, and ferns, as well as a large number of colorful parrots. After lunch, transfer to the airport for our flight to Buenos Aires, the mesmerizing capital of Argentina. Upon arrival in this vibrant city, transfer to the lovely Alvear Palace Hotel located in the heart of the French heritage district of Recoleta. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to enjoy the hotel and explore the neighborhood.

Days 6 & 7 - BUENOS AIRES Spend two full days exploring Buenos Aires, often referred to as “the Paris of South America.” French influences are found everywhere, especially in the predominant Belle Époque architectural style that is found throughout the capital. Begin with a morning walking tour through the enchanting and elegant Recoleta Quarter. View the Casa Rosada where Argentinean leaders traditionally address the masses from the balconies; tour the famous Recoleta Cemetery to see Eva Peron’s (Evita’s) grave, the Metropolitan Cathedral, and the city’s famous Plaza de Mayo where crowds once cheered Juan and Eva Peron. Then take a short drive to Palermo Parks, an area full of beautiful green spaces and gardens. Your morning tour concludes with a visit to the Teatro Colon, the main opera house in Buenos Aires, and considered one of the best in the world. Take a private backstage tour of the Italian-style building, constructed in the beginning of the 20th century to rival the beauty and acoustics of Milan’s La Scala. Learn about the Teatro Colon’s tragic tales, from death, delays, and an assassination to a love triangle gone wrong. This afternoon

is at leisure to pursue your own interests. With numerous museums, art galleries, shopping, fascinating antiques, lush green parks, and tree-lined boulevards, it’s hard not to fall in love with Bueno Aires. Dinner this evening is an Argentine delight; your meal at Steak by Luis will be an occasion to treasure. Chef Luis is a master of Argentina’s signature steak specialty, asada. Your meal is a multi-course delight, with each course paired with the perfect wine. You can visit the grill where Luis shares with you the process, ritual, and secrets of a great Argentine asador. On your second day, begin in La Boca, the oldest neighborhood in Buenos Aires, and a true artist colony, right down to the vibrant multi-colored designs of the houses. Continue to lovely San Telmo, the best-preserved historical neighborhood and the birthplace of the tango. Here, enjoy a thrilling visit to the Mansion Dandi Royal, home of the Tango Academy; well-known Argentine dancers will introduce you to the fine art of tango. Relax over lunch at a local café, then stroll through the vibrant Mercado San Telmo, opened in 1897, and El Zanjon de Granados, an urban archaeological site that offers a glimpse into the first settlement of Buenos Aires. The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to explore on your own. Tonight, enjoy a memorable dinner and tango show at one of the city’s stylish Tango venues.

Day 8 - BUENOS AIRES / BARILOCHE Board your morning flight to Bariloche, located in the Andean foothills. The farm is still inhabited by descendants of Jared Jones, a Texan who immigrated to Argentina in 1895 and built this farm for deer hunting. Upon arriving in Villa La Angostura, you will have the chance to spend a little time sightseeing and shopping in this charming village. Continuing on the Seven Lakes Road, pass Lake Correntoso, world famous for its fly-fishing, and Espejo Lake (Mirror Lake), before arriving at the Chilean border. Surrounded by mountains on both sides, including the snowcapped Andes to the east, the setting of Santiago is breathtaking. Your afternoon tour includes San Cristobal Hill, with its beautiful public park that features a monumental sculpture of the Virgin Mary and panoramic views of the distant Andes. Then ride the cable car down to the Bella Vista district to visit La Chascona, the romantic hideaway of Nobel laureate Pablo Neruda and his mistress (and later third wife), Matilde Urrutia. The house was built in stages, with the poet collaborating with two different architects and imprinting his own eclectic touches on

the construction. A short walk takes you to a lovely restaurant inspired by the Chilean poet, El Meson Nerudiano.
