extension of network

• Promotion of clean vehicles

• Electricification ofpublic transport

clean vehicles

Car-Sharing Bremen

Target 2020:20,000 Car-Sharerreplacing 6,000 private cars

Urban development

Inner city low car developments(4 car parking / 10 units)Mobility Management (cycle parking, Car-Sharing etc.)

Likely / expected trends:

• slightly shrinking by natural developmentof population

• (over-) compensation by migration?

• Housing space / capita: growing or stable?

• Mobility patterns ?

Robust development:

• Large scale infrastructure – potential risks

• Demographic trends / ageing population- available income ? „mobility poverty“ ??- a less car dependent city offers betteroptions for walking (+ public transport)

Questions

Urban

• leading to more cars (also idling around in order to find some parking – otherwise just idling around) – or fewer cars?

• Private or fleet based? …car ownership: something of the past ?

• Chance to reorganise cities (when about 80% of cars can be removed)

Questions

Regional

• More decentralisation ?(as moving around can be integrated in work)

• Freight transport: more infrastructure…or more efficient use of existing transport infrastructure?

• Potential impacts not considered in EU White Paper 2050 (!!) or national road strategies (2030)

Thank you for your kind attention!
