THE ORDER OF MORNING WORSHIP 7TH SUNDAY OF EASTER
10:00 AM MAY 28, 2017
THE FIRST NOTE OF THE PRELUDE begins our worship. Please
use the prelude time to turn your attention to God’s presence and help. As worship is not an obligatory offering unto God, but
a natural response to God’s goodness, take time to consider all the reasons, big and small, for which you are thankful unto God. Nurturing our relationships and friendships in fellowship is
essential to our life as a congregation, so please continue to do
so following our time of worship.
Those who are able are invited to stand. Latecomers may be seated.
WELCOME AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

HYMN #355 “Hear the Good News of Salvation” NETTLETON
CALL TO CONFESSION
UNISON PRAYER OF CONFESSION Forgiving and gracious God, you have called us to be the church,
to live out our Resurrection faith. You have asked us to place our
MEMORIAL DAY LITANY Leader: God of love, peace and justice, it is your will for the world
that we may live together in peace. You have promised
through the prophet Isaiah that one day the swords will
be beaten into plowshares. Yet we live in a broken world,
and there are times that war seems inevitable. Let us
recognize with humility and sadness the tragic loss of life
that comes in war. Even so, as we gather here free from
persecution, we may give thanks for those that have
served with courage and honor.
People: We remember and honor those whose lives were given
in service to us:
Leader: The 184,000 who served in the Revolutionary War and
the 4,435 who died in that service.
People: The 286,703 who served in the War of 1812 and the
6,765 who died in that service.
Leader: The 78,718 who served in the Mexican War and the
13,283 who died in that service.
People: The 3,500,000 who served in the Civil War and the
530,000 who died in that service.
Leader: The 306,760 who served in the Spanish-American War
and the 2,446 who died in that service.
People: The 4,743,826 who served in World War One and the
116,708 who died in that service.
Leader: The 16,353,659 who served in World War Two and the
407,316 who died in that service.
People: The 5,764,143 who served in the Korean War and the
33,651 who died in that service.
Leader: The 8,744,000 who served in the Vietnam War and the
58,168 who died in that service.
People: The 467,539 who served in the Persian Gulf War and the 268 who died in that service.
Leader: The 1,680,000 who served and are serving in the Global
War on Terror and the 5395 who have been killed to
date by hostile action in that service.
trust in you and to bring to all the good news of your saving love.
But we have failed to do this. We have given our faith a back seat
to the troubles of the world and to the stresses in our own life. We
look for the quick and easy answers. Forgive us. Clear our spirits
of the clutter of everyday living. Help us to be open always to your
word and your love.
We do not notice, Holy God, but you give us: time, so we can think
about your Word; silence, so it may fill our emptiness; wisdom, so
we may know the path to walk. Pull us deeper and deeper into
love, grace and peace, until we find ourselves rooted forever in the
One who watches over us forever, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Emmaus High School Chorale Join us on Wednesday, May 31 @ 7:30 PM as the Emmaus High
School Chorale presents a concert in our sanctuary. Emma Walker and Joel Shimer are members of this chorale.
We will receive the PENTECOST Offering on JUNE 4, Pentecost Sunday. Faith Presbyterian Church will use the 40% that we receive to
support East Penn School District ANGEL NETWORKS in Lincoln Elementary and Lower Macungie Middle School. Angel Networks help
children at risk by providing basic assistance to students in need on an immediate, short term basis; supporting students' ability to focus on
learning in school; and giving anonymously in the true spirit of community. They provide students with basic necessities such as
EMERGENCY groceries, clothing on an individual basis, curriculum-based field trips, academic expenses, and personal need products.
In 2016 we received $2,871.00 from 45 participants(36% of our
giving units) with $574.20 going to both of the ANGEL NETWORKS. Do you think we can increase this amount??
More information on the Pentecost offering can be found in the
May issue of The Faith Flyer, page 8, available on our website.
