PRB RACE SERIES 2015This series is open to any car sold by PRB or its agents, with a CAMS Type 2B or 2A logbook. This includes thenew PRB Widebody and the UK Westfields previously sold by PRB. This year there are only two classes

Class A – 1601cc to 2000cc modifiedClass B – Up to 2000cc standard-engined

Round 6 – FOSC SMP South Circuit, November 1, 2015Practice and qualifyingWe had 2 qualifying sessions, and in the first it was Stef fastest with a PRB record time of 58.17 seconds fromStuart (59.28), Michael (59.40) and an always-improving Josh on 59.89 seconds.

The next four drivers all qualified with 60-second times, and a rather rusty Warwick (returning after an ankleinjury) rounded out the field with a 63-second lap.

In the second session, only Warwick improved his time posting a 61.85 seconds lap.

So qualifying was a bit different to the longer circuits with series contender Chris back in 6th, and Michael (whoseems to love this short and twisty circuit) and Josh well up and on the pace.

What did Mike Barry say to Jos after qualifying to get this reaction?

Race 1 (10 Laps)All PRB races started off as Rolling starts, and the pole position driver has a good advantage on this circuit soStef streaked away and continued to lead for the entire race, winning by over 6 seconds.

Jos arrived with (matching??) yellow mudguards, and here is shown in front of John and Warwick in Race 1

The only passes during the entire race were when Jos got John on the first lap, and when Michael got pastJames on the last lap into 4th place, emphasising how difficult passing is on this circuit when cars start inqualifying order and have equal performance.

Race 2 (10 laps)Race 2 was the usual reverse grid race. With no Class B runners, this was a simple reverse grid based onqualifying times.Given that the fastest cars started behind the slower ones, this race promised more and did deliver.

Warwick was off pole and led for most of the first 2 laps until he overshot the 90 degree lefthander leaving themain circuit, braking too late and relegating himself to last position.

Warwick leads the field on Lap 1

By the end of lap 1 Stef had only passed brother Josh, but by lap 4 he was up to second place behind Johnhaving passed Stuart on the previous lap. John was going well in the lead, but on lap 6 was passed by Stef; onlap 7 Stuart followed, and it was cars 4-25-7 till the chequered flag.

Stuart making his way through the field, and Stef can be seen passing Michael

Further back Jos was doing well, in 4th and keeping Chris behind, until lap 7 when he was relegated to 5th whenChris got past, and they finished in these positions. Josh who had been last during lap 1 clawed back to 6th

place, then it was Michael and James followed by Warwick who made a great effort to catch the field after hisspin.

Jos keeps Chris behind by judicious use of the centre of the track!

So another fastest lap and win for Stef, 3 seconds in front of Stuart , with John a good 3rd.

Race 3 (11 Laps)Grid positions for the final race were based on the result of Race 1. The first four cars stayed in starting orderfor the entire 11 laps, with no passing, with Josh scoring a good 3rd place.

On lap 3 Chris passed James into 5th, and John also did so into 6th on the next lap. It stayed this way till lap 8when John pulled off for no obvious reason (later shown to be due to having no fuel as a result of an error incalculation). So James maintained 6th till the chequered flag, and the only remaining interest was which of Josand Warwick would be first! After Warwick passed Jos on lap 8 he held this position until the last lap when Josreversed the position, holding 7th until the end of the race.

It was hot all day, andJames later found thesoles of his shoes hadbeen burnt! Here it lookslike he is trying to getsome cool air into hishelmet.

The Wrapup

Another nice day at the FOSC meeting saw the winner of the 2015 Series confirmed when Stuart finished thefirst race, giving himself an unbeatable lead. Obviously it was Stef’s meeting and it would have been muchcloser if he had made all meetings during the year.

But it should be noted that the winner is determined by the results of the best 15 races during the year, eachdriver can drop their worst 3 race results (see adjusted total column).

Congratulations to Stuart and to all the drivers this year. Roll on 2016, the schedule will be published soon.

Driver of the Meeting was Josh Versluis, for consistently good finishes and 3rd place overall.

Please join us at the Presentation Dinner scheduled for Tuesday December1 at the Oxford Hotel, Drummoyne, starting at 7pm. Please rsvp to Peter

Garlick on 93876669.
