● an introduction

The Russell Press was established in 1968by the Bertrand Russell Peace Foundation to provide a supportive and cost-effectiveprinting service to the voluntary sector – an ethos that remains central to thecompany today. Our roots and structuremake it easy for us to understand the needsof charities and campaigning organisationsand natural for us to support their priorities.

Bertrand Russell (1872-1970), philosopher, mathematician and campaigner fornuclear disarmament. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature, which cited him as “the champion of humanity and freedom of thought”.

Printing has undergone arevolution in the past twentyyears – and the pace of changeshows no sign of slowing. It’s notjust the basic processes ofprinting, but the whole nature ofcommunication that has beentransformed by innovativetechnology and new media.

The Russell Press has embracedthese changes and remainscommitted to investment in newplant and facilities to take fulladvantage of the opportunitiesoffered by the latest technology.

And yet some things remainunchanged. Print is still the mostpopular, versatile and cost-effective medium forcommunicating with the generalpublic – especially for voluntaryorganisations seeking to producea range of readily accessible

materials and resources foreducation, service provision, campaigning and fundraising.

For us, too, some things areconstant. The Russell Press hasdeliberately and proudly remaineda general printer, producingeverything from stationery tobound books.

We give every job the same levelof care and attention to ensurethat it is produced correctly, ontime and within budget.

And before a job is even started,we’re happy to help with adviceand support in any way we can –our aim is to look after the morecomplicated side of printing sothat, for our clients, it’s assimple as possible.

“Hazards Magazine’s demandingpublication schedule requires a

reliable and efficient print servicefrom a supplier who can deliver

on time and to budget. TheRussell Press meets

all these requirements in full”
