Pop album CoversBoth of these album covers are from the pop genre, they stand out and are very bright this conveys the type of music that is found on the album. The Katy Perry album cover ‘Teenage dream’ has bright, neon colours and funky font therefore catching the eye of the intended teenage/ young audience.

Whereas the Rihanna cover is slightly more mature, with the parental advisory tag shown, but also the close up shot with subtle red colours used conveys her type of target audience which is males/females who are teenagers and older.

Rock album coversThe conventions of rock are dark colours, mostly black, this reflects the music which is powerful and heavy

This Queen album is very dark and contains close-ups so we can see their expressionless faces this connotes to the rock genre because we see rock artists as having no emotions, they do not sing slow love songs for example.

This Kiss album is also very dark, there is a stormy background on the art work connoting danger and trouble which could convey this band and genre.

R&B album coversThe conventions of R&B are sunglasses, hats, jewelry, this genre is ‘rebellious’ and this is conveyed on the cover.

Tiao Cruz 'album cover is a close up of him wearing sunglasses this is a common conventions and conveys the R&B genre, he is expressionless because of the rebellious attitude R&B artists hold.

Chris Browns album work shows a medium close up so we can see his expression, his album art gives off the sense that he ‘doesn’t care’ again conveying the genre conventions, he is also dressed in stereotypical urban clothing, this will attract R&B fans as they can see this photo and connect it with the genre.

Country album coversConventions of Country are reflected on these two albums, they both look very laid back which is what country represents as a genre.

The Jason Aldean album work is very stereotypical of a country album, he is wearing a cowboy hat, ripped jeans, a plaid shirt and boots which is convention therefore when country fans see this work they will know that the art work reflect what is inside the album.

This Taylor Swift album cover is also country, we can see that this however is targeted at a younger audience due to the butterfly, mystical theme. This cover represents a youthful, fresh faced, country singer.

Indie Album coverThese two indie album covers do not feature the artists on the cover, but instead something that signifies the album as a whole.

The 1975’s album is monochrome, dull colour’s are a convention of indie music. When people see the title The 1975 they will instantly recognize the band, also this cover is very recognizable and easy to remember.

The Kooks’ album is also very minimal but also very effective, the blue heart could represent the type of music found on this album. And artwork like this is very simple but recognizable.
